Clemson’s headed to the ACC Title game and OSU beat Michigan in Ann Arbor. Another good Saturday.

Really enjoyed the giant “WE LOVE COACH RODRIQUEZ” banner some OSU fans were holding in the upper deck.

Clemson’s defense needs to get on the ball before next week. I think fatigue and injuries are starting to really take their toll. We need to get that fixed ASAP given that we have South Carolina and GT in the next two weeks and both of those teams will exploit a weakened defense if given the chance.

CJ Spiller is obviously not running as hard as he was earlier in the season. We need to start using Jaime Harper, Andre Ellington, Jacoby Ford, and Rendrick Taylor a little more and give CJ a break. We have far too many talented receivers and backs to let one guy take all of the beating.
I think UVA used everything in the playbook on that game, also Clemson had wrapped up the title before kickoff, say what you will I think it had a lot to do with the first half. That being said, KP is growing up right before our eyes. If we can keep him another year or two (gonna be a 1st rounder in MLB) then all to the good. However I think Clemson woodsheds SC this week. And then off to Tampa where my brodles and pops (adopted) scored tickets to the game. W00tt

Also Spiller hasn’t really had to run that hard since the FSU game, the entire team has stepped up. Palmer’s got gorilla glue all over the gloves, and the recieving core is FINALLY showing up.

im from australia they just started showing NFL on our tv here its a pretty good technical game i enjoy it alot, just had a few questions

do college football players get paided to play ? like NFL players or do they play for free
are they allowed private sponsorship money ?

does the quater back have a radio to talk to the couch in his helmit ?
if not does the QB pick all the plays himself or does the couch tell him what to do some how each play ?

Theoretically College players are amatuers. Many are getting scholarships so a free or discounted education so that is considered their pay. There are cases where players are paid under the table, usually by alumni or boosters. If caught, there are repercussions, but usually the punishments are handed down years later, often after the coach and player have moved on.

I don’t think they use radios yet. Generally one of the coaches calls the plays. They are usually either sent in with rotating substitute players, or the new trend is to use hand signals from the bench. A lot of teams will have a mini playbook on the players wrist. You’ll see the players look at their wrist before each play.

Close. Everything you said was correct, but there’s a designated player on each side of the ball each game that gets a radio in their helmet so they can get a live playcall on the field. A lot of the things they do from the sidelines now without the radio are adjustments pre-snap.

As an diehard OU fan, I’m very disappointed in this year’s team. I understand injuries adding up really hurts the team, but I think there’s more to it than that. A few things:

 1. When we leave Norman, we forget how to play football (every loss on road or neutral site)
Under Stoops, OU has historically played mediocre on the road, but they did play well last year. They also did in 2000, 01, 02, 03, and 04. I think they fall victim of playing to the talent of their opponent and conservative play calling. Hopefully I’m not contradicting myself, but I think it just depends on the talent they have.

I agree, this is an alarming trend.

Well, him and his staff used to. Kind of like point two, it’s something that has become more frequent over the last several years.

This defense has played pretty damn good this year, Tech being the obvious exception. The defense has been relied on to pitch shutouts almost every game because of an inept offense. That’s just not realistic.

In the Tech game it was bad, but that hasn’t been the case over the course of this season. Going into the Tech game, OU was ranked in the top 10 or 11 in all defensive stats.

First off, he isn’t going to Notre Dame. He was asked about it last Tuesday (I think), and he laughed at the question. He just built a new house in Norman and has two kids in school. He isn’t leaving anytime soon.

As for Stoops and Venables not caring, I totally disagree. And I would also ask what games you watched this year?

It’s really difficult to play at a high level when your top players are dropping like flies due to injuries. OU lost their staring center for the rest of the season against Tech for fucks sake. It’s been repeated numerous times by the local sports media here, that the amount of injuries OU has sustained this year is unheard of, in any sport, pro or college.

This team was picked by some to play in the National Title game. Is it any surprise that collectively this team is down?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Sooner fan for life through and through, but it’s tough to watch the team this year.

My apologies for coming to this thread so late in the season, didn’t realize it was here.
I hear you man.

Here is a good article from the Tulsa World breaking down OU’s injuries and why they are having such a bad season.

Agreed on all counts. That’s not the UVA we’ve seen the rest of the season.

Have you seen the new Nike Pro Combat uniforms they’re unveiling for the Sakerlina game? Pretty sweet.

Good to have yet another tiger on here. Are you a student there now?

Tiger fans representin (amen to that!). Usuck is gonna be gettin their ass whipped this weekend, South Carolina is 109th in the country in sacks allowed, just wait until they get a taste of Bowers (who is ready to get back on the field the entire game according to the postgame reports now), Sapp, Thompson, Jenkins, Cumbie, Alexander, Branch, and Conner. Conner was a freakin beast in the UVA with 15 tackles. Even more important on offense though is Parker is lighting some people up since playing Wake after the bye week. He has 13 TDs and only 4 picks in the last 6 games.

Spike, one game and y’all are gonna finish 12-0, here’s to seeing some upsets this weekend to get y’all in the title game (time to root for FSU, Auburn, and Texas A & M and possibly Nebraska in two weeks).

Hoping we don’t fall asleep against UNM. I hope to empty the bench on Senior day. Can’t root against Bama, and rooting for the Aggies is a difficult thing to do. Add to my list that Pitt beats Chick-fil-a and Clemson wins out an is crowned ACC champs.

Cant wait for this weekend and next. Lets put it down tigers! Finish the job!

Oh shit, another one of us!

I can’t wait for the Holy War. I hope Utah shuts the Zoobie offense down, and Wynn throws all over their week secondary.

Ha, I just saw myself on TV. Prime ticket is showing the best of USC/UCLA. Damn that’s weird.

What the fuck is this horseshit?

Two up the gut, bubble screen…

Paging Rob Spence…
Paging Mr. Rob Spence…

Miss State is murdering Ole Miss. Fuck you Nutt.

That game hurts not because they beat us, but they absolutely kicked our asses, we didn’t look prepared or inspired to play today, and that goes directly to the coaches, I’ve been singing their praises all year long, but that excuse of a team on the field today was flat out embarrassing.

Sorry to hear about Clemson, Froggies slep walked past UNM, Our D outscored their O. Was glad OU beat OSU, Bama beat Auburn, barely. Hoping for a Utah win tonight. Still hoping for a trip to New Orleans.

The helmets Florida wore tonight look fucking terrible, is that some sort of throwback?
