OSU at USC… line is starting at 10 and a half. How does everyone else feel about this? I agree with it — until the Big 10’s “elite” can prove that they can keep up with the other conference’s elite teams, they ought to be heavy underdogs. Especially without their wonderboy Beanie.

I think that’s about right. Ohio State hasn’t been particularly impressive in their 2 wins, and USC looked absolutely dominant when they destroyed a Bowl team from last year in their first game.
As much as I’d like to see the Big 10 earn some respect with a win, I’m doubting it will happen.
I think the only hope for Ohio State is that USC comes out rusty after a bye-week. The week off works great in the NFL, but usually does more harm than good at the collegiate level.

This is true. I remember (first hand) that USC looked rather rusty in the beginning of the Nebraska game last year. For a moment, I thought Nebraska might actually have a chance to pull the upset before USC found the groove and waxed the Huskers. But this OSU team is a better team than that Nebraska team was, particularly on defense. OTOH, the atmosphere in Memorial (positively electric) may have had a lot to do with it.
I dunno. I feel like 10 may be a bit high. I’d say 6 is about right. The X-factor for me is how well Sanchez holds up to the OSU defense. We should know by the end of the second series how the rest of the game will go. I think the key will be for USC to put Boeckman on his ass early and often. He strikes me as a streaky QB who is capable of turning to absolute shite if he is knocked around. That will, of course, render OSU’s receiving corp largely moot, and thereby allow USC to tighten down on a seemingly less-than-100% Wells.
I sense one of two outcomes: Either USC and OSU will get into a close game, decided by a touchdown or less; or USC will just wipe the floor with OSU. I have a hard time seeing OSU just dismantle USC something like 35-7. But anything can happen, I guess . . .

Even with “Beanie” Wells at 110%, USC will still destroy OSU. I’m looking forward to it.
GO GATORS!
I know a bunch of people are calling for a complete ass whoopin this weekend (and the way USC played against UVA who can blame them?) but I believe this game to be much closer than a lot of people think. You have two DAMN good defenses (a showcase for linebackers in this game for sure), it just depends which offense gets a couple of breaks at the right moments.
I believe the X factor to definitely be Pryor in his limited role in the game, but that may not be much of one with the USC linebackers speed (freakin incredible) so we’ll see but OSU usually shows up and plays hard in big games (at least when they are not playing a top SEC team)
The local paper here in Los Angeles is saying how the USC O-Line is not battle tested, and has been the main question mark for the team. Despite a good performance against Virginia, the O-Line is skeptical against the OSU front 7. It will show early on where these 2 teams are, and has national ranking implications.

I agree. I am thinking USC will win by at least two touchdowns.
The fourth quarter in the Miami Florida game made me cry.
I think Miami did not play too bad really, but they did have plenty of mistakes.

Nate,
Congrats on you and Tebow. He seems like a geniunely nice guy. You two will be good for each other.
USC - OSU will be a good game, but it would be a better game in the Horseshoe, although OSU was not impressive last week. USC by 10.
DB
I was not going to watch the ASU UNLV game, but then I stumbled across a youtube clip last night.
I found out this guy plays for UNLV so I want to see him play.
Word is that Wells probably WON’T play in the USC game.
Something is not right about this. First, I have no idea what the injury is. It is a nebulous foot injury of some sort? Second, they have flip-flopped on his status over and over. As such, I now believe that this is nothing more than an attempt to throw USC off.
I expect a 100% Wells and quite a bit of Pryor on Saturday night. (And for those of you who think that Tressel wouldn’t switch back and forth betwen QB’s in a game, think back to the '05 Texas-OSU game when he kept switching back and forth between Troy Smith and that inept white dude.)
Tressel strikes me as the type of coach who is more than willing to try crazy strategic tactics to get an edge. I call BS on the Wells injury.

Thanks. He’s so special to me.
And he has the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen. He’s just so dreamy. He’s turning into such a handsome, mature man.

At least!

The first three quarters about gave me an ulcer. It was too stressful. Just like the 2006 season when they won the BCS championship. Other than the two opening games of the season, the games were ultra stressful and down to the last few seconds of the game. I don’t want another season like that.
Miami was doing a real nice job the whole game of blitzing the Gators offense and breaking through the line. I was getting pissed off that the Gators couldn’t run the ball or get anything going…and they kept trying to go up the middle when they should have been going to the sides and throwing more.
I think the score should have been at least 30-3 if not 35-3 in the end. The “safety” before halftime should have been a touchdown (he was in bounds when he jumped on the ball) and the last field goal of the game should have been a touchdown…and even if that hadn’t been a touchdown, they had scored a touchdown a couple plays before that but it was called back because on of the Florida receivers wasn’t on the line.
It would have looked better on paper at least (30-3 or 35-3), as those who watched the game know it was a close game through the first three quarters.
I’m just amazed at the defense’s improvement over last year! They held Miami to a field goal and 140 total yards in the game. Pretty impressive. Now we just need the O-line to improve so we can run the ball more. And expect to see Emmanuel Moody (USC transfer) a lot more in the near future (starting with Tennessee next week)!
Anyone else effected by the hurricane?
UH v. Air Force Academy will be moved to Dallas, UT v Arkansas was postponed for 2 weeks, TCU v Stanford has been bumped up from 6pm to a Noon kickoff, and possibly post-poned, all due to the hurricane. Wash St at Baylor now on a Friday night.
T- Minus 2 days and 2 hours until my Trojans take on the Buckeyes of Ohio State. Man I can hardly wait to see this, it seems like these two teams never seem to match up, even in bowl games.
the line at 10 is about right we dont deserve any less thats for sure. i think were better getting them early in the season and i predict an OSU win. i think if we played them late such as where we play illinois, we would be in trouble.
I also think we play to our opponents MOST of the time. given a couple fuck ups everyone knows we were looking past OU the whole way to USC.
attention inside knowledge as a close relative plays for OSU’s starting defense , lets just say GO BEANIE GO! ![]()

Whether you accept or not, you are now my best friend.
watchin the game tonight (so far not to bad, equal teams it seems like at the moment) and tomorrow night will be good as a precursor to saturday.
Not bad? Rutgers is getting dominated on offense and defense. They are definitely not the team they were the past two years. UNC is destroying them with interceptions and subsequent touchdowns as a result!
I’ll be watching Friday night as well. I love college football and look forward to watching as many games as I can all season long.
I’m supposed to go to Tallahassee on Saturday for the FSU game for something my girl is doing (she teaches band at a nearby high school and FSU invites high school bands to come out for a day for instruction and tix to the football game).
Problem with this is that we have to leave early in the morning and then spend the whole day there (game starts at 3:30pm), which means it would mess up my plans to watch Georgia and South Carolina and probably the first quarter or two of the USC versus Ohio State game.
Hmmm…maybe I’ll back out from going to the FSU game so I can stay home and watch a bunch of games all day and night! ![]()

Gators stick together. I’m pretty good at predicting outcomes (it’s a shame I don’t bet on games), as I was good about calling out at the beginning of 2006 that the Gators would go to the BCS game and win.
Low and behold, it happened, despite that loss to Auburn. It just “felt right” when 2006 began. I could tell that it was “the year of the Gator” for sure.
And I can’t believe anyone is giving OSU a chance in this game. They are highly overrated and have been for the last few years. They play joke teams all year.
Sure, they look GREAT on paper with their numbers on offense and defense. But when you play crap teams and rack up crap stats, it equals shit when you play real teams in tougher conferences.
Remember, the Gator Nation is EVERYWHERE!!!
Ya Its nice to see the Heels lay some pipe! I like ECU but I bleed Blue.
I dont think I have ever seen a teams-O stall the way Rutgers is. They can move the ball all day but cant get past the 15…Opp well they just finally got one in the end zone.
If UNC can play like this week-in and week-out they should win alot of game this year. The best part is 75% of the team are Freshman and sophomores
I think it would be safe to say that this is the best and team in the ACC as looked thus far. And ppl talk about the ACC being down this year, what about the Big East?
