aahh yes the football season is upon us (finally.) personally, i think this is the year of the blue devils. yep, they’re gonna come off a 21 game losing streak straight to the BCS. okok just kidding. im hoping my buffalos (CU) can repeat their big 12 championship, but im a little worried about them damn sooners. lets hear what you guys have to say, all leagues welcome.
I’ve never been a big fan, but I expect Lou Holtz will take USC (the real USC, South Carolina. they were a school before Cali was even a state) somewhere this year. With Florida not having Spurrier, the Tenn-Fla-Clemson part of the schedule isn’t looking as bad. SEC Championship? Definite possibility.
They’ll at least make a BCS game.
Well, I know everyone thinks we suck, but don’t forget that you guy travel the day after Thanksgiving…and not to a friendly place. Regardless, I think you have bigger worries than the Sooners. I think the repulsive burnt orange may cause you more trouble than us or the Sooners. Oh, and I would have trouble betting against Miami, regardless of who they may have lost. That was/is one hell of a talented football team.(trust me, I was wearing red during the Rose Bowl)
Well, I personally think Colorado is gonna take the Big 12 this year w/ some resistance from Oklahoma and Texas. I think OK’s offense is gonna give most people fits this year and Texas is gonna do great but Simms is gonna show(once again) that he has some growing up to do. Also, I can’t wait for Florida to lose their stranglehold on the SEC once and for all(Its weird that I still don’t like FL b/c it was Spurrier that I never liked and now he is gone). LSU may have won it last year but they have a QB issue and I doubt they will be able to continue as champs but I hope they can. I also predict that Miami will lose a game for the first time in over 2 seasons when they face FSU this year. Miami has won the last 2 but I think they have lost too much and FSU is finished reloading. Its funny I say that b/c Miami still figures to be loaded w/ the one of best front 7 sevens and one of the best backfields in the country. I think the problem will ly in Dorsey not being able to be productive w/out that fantastic OL protecting him. Can’t quite tell you who is gonna take it this year. I’d like to see FSU do it but they may stumble somewhere. Damn, I can’t wait for the season to start.
Don’t let the absence of Spurrier fool you. Ron Zook is a good coach, and he is determined to lead a winning team in the SEC. He has the talent and the coaches to do it. It’s a matter of fighting through yet another tough schedule and proving to the naysayers that the Gators are still dominate in the SEC. And our second game of the season is Miami. So we are going to have a tough one against the defending champs as well as the rest of the SEC and finally, FSU. I think the Gators will still finish in the top five at the end of the year.
Go Sooners! I think we are looking good this year. However, I have to admit that I am concerned about Texas, I think they have a legitimate shot to win it all this year. Colorado will also make a run but they will loose one to someone along the way. I agree that you can never count out Miami. One of the things I love about college ball, is that it will be week three before anyone has any idea who is really good this year. Oh yeah, and I am hoping the Houston Cougars finish somewhere better than last place this year!
im gonna have to agree that south carolina is going to be a threat. i was really impressed with them last year, and i think they can only improve. for the ACC, while FSU is an obvious favorite, im still liking maryland finishing in the top 3, and possibly NC state as well. (i think carolina will be on a rebuliding year with the loss of peppers, curry, and sims.) watch out for virginia, they had a damn good recruiting class. as for my buffalos, we have a damn hard schedule (we visit UCLA and South. Cal AND OK) but the score 63-36 still sits in the back of my mind, so anything is possible. and im 99.65% sure that the ducks are going to rip up the PAC-10. quack motherfucking quack
Go UMASS!! Go Krohn!!
LOL…Ron Zook? Nate, you happen to catch the Saints at the end of last year? That’s what you’re in for. Sorry, but Spurrier has left the building.
DocT, I am from New Orleans so I saw first hand the futility the Saints displayed the last month of last season: combined 160-52. That is a 40-13 avg each game. I must say that it couldn’t have been all of Zook’s fault. The entire team mailed it in during that stretch, but that doesn’t speak well for Zook’s ability as a leader. I welcome the change b/c it puts Spurrier on my new most hated team in the NFL, and puts(what seems like) a classy guy in the head coaching spot at UF. A much welcome change from Spurrier. Now I won’t be totally pissed if UF wins from now on.
I’m also from New Orleans and the end of the season was pitiful. I don’t see how Florida picked Ron Zook. He did alright with the Saints but nothing special. Maybe he will prove us wrong though. As for LSU, if our quaterback can produce than we might have another chance at an SEC title.
i have to admit one league that i like watching is the mountain west. they dont get a lot of coverage, but they have a lot of underrated teams like UNLV, BYU, and Colo. state, who i think is the most underrated team in football. i would like to see CSU play an eastern team (they open at virginia) just to help prove that the conference is pretty strong.
Kent State!! HAHA!!!
