College Football 2011

This was pregame, was at my Bosses brother in laws tail gate.

RV large, very large with awning X 2 had the whole jambalaya and alligator chili. Also had a band playing and margarita machine making “panty droppers” drink. Started at around 10 in the morning.

I will say been to a few college games, UT and A&M over the years.

LSU fans are the friendliest fuckers to ever be around, they welcome up Florida fans and would give them food and beer etc. Talk football good natured ribbing, just all around very cool people to hang with.

Plus they could drink some serious fucking alcohol. I paced myself and just had a small buzz for the day.
So glad to hear this. Cajun people are some hospitable folks - no doubt. But I am biased! Glad you had a great time.

That’s pretty good.

The same can be use for our QB Martinez when we played Wisconsin. :frowning:

The cajuns love the Honey Badger, saw tons of tshirts for that kid.
That is a big statement but here in Tiger country we are just watching and enjoying. I am just trying to soak it all in each game so I can remember it for years to come. He is a special player and I don’t think we will fully realize it for some time to come.

Basically colleges are the pimp and the pimp hand is strong.

College players are the Ho’s and they be getting there ass slapped a bunch

Bitches need a Ho union…

BCS needs to die

Got this one floating around email yesterday.

His talent really has me perked up, now that is who I want Dallas to draft for sure.

Not so fast my friend! I think he should stay close to home. You know, around NEW ORLEANS…

p.s. - He is only a sophomore!

+1

Now we get to spend two weeks reading newspaper columns aboubt how Pelini treats the media, lol.

I didn’t realize he completed that many passes, lol! Braxton Miller’s injury was a mjaor blow to OSU in that game. The Huskers were already building momentum at that point, but there is no doubt that Miller was making an impact. He’s gonna be a good one down the road.

Just now catching up on things after being out of town.

Just saw the replay of the LSU punter. I like the new rule and hate taunting and poor sportsmanship, but the punter’s gesture was so quick and pointless that I don’t know that it should have been called in this case. I’d care more if it would have made an actual difference in the game, so I guess it’s no big deal. But this rule is difficult due to the subjective nature of a ref determining what is actual taunting versus a college kid being excited in the moment.

Some displays can be over the top, no doubt, and I’m glad they crack down on those. But some of them can be so hard to adequately judge.

I remember Kansas State’s bowl game last year, they scored a late touchdown and the player gave a quick salute to the fans (I think they even had a stated armed forces theme, and the salute was meant to be respectful, certainly not directed at the opponent in a taunting manner). The guy was flagged, and the ensuing 2 point conversion attempt was then from the 17 instead of the two. They failed and lost the game.

I’m still worn out from the Nebraska comeback. I don’t know how much the rest of the country hears about the consternation that was going on amongst the Husker faithful, but a loss on Saturday, especially in blowout fashion at home, going into a bye with a losing streak, while Pelini remained firmly committed to a struggling QB, could have easily triggered a downward spiral which could have led to the end of Pelini’s career and years of rebuilding for the program.

As I was watching the 3rd quarter, I called the game “catastrophic” and turned it off for a while (I was out of town with my wife in a non-Husker-sympathetic location and was urged to join the rest of the family).

I was shocked to start getting excited texts from friends about a great comeback. Had to catch up on the DVR the next day and couldn’t believe it. I guess Bo Pelini and Taylor Martinez live to see another day!

Jake Lockers’ quick celebration after scoring a tough TD against BYU changed the whole landscape of that game, that season, and the University of Washington football program for a few years.

I don’t think one rule should be able to do that.

All I will say is DONT PENALIZE COLLEGE KIDS FOR DISPLAYING EMOTION IN AN EMOTIONAL GAME.

And now I bow out of the discussion.

Spectacular

Not being an “the ohio state” fan…what is the real mood/status of what the fans expect. Not just for now, but in the future. The troubled past will not go quietly without some costs and pains. Do you think you will select a new coach of let the interim guy steer the ship until the program is ready to ramp back up?

Any movement/cries for a change in the administration? As a program, the school’s perception/reputation is just getting hammered far worse than necessary because of the AD’s continued comments and actions/lack of actions…whats the people of the TOSU say?

My two cents on the display rule (after reading y’all’s). I do not think it should take points off the board. I think taunting (motioning towards opponent, that dumbass dive roll, etc.) is worse than celebrating (high fives all around - how is saluting the fans bad sportsmanship? ) so I think it should be treated different.

I think 15 yards or hell 25 yards should be added to the end of the kickoff return, not to were the ball is kicked. So, touch back = ball on 35 or 45. The yardage should be assessed after any other penalties. A good run back could greatly shorten the field.

If the punter feels like taunting (I mean seriously, how often do punters get to do that?) he can take it up with his defense who now have more work to do because of him. Kinda keeping it in the family that way. That way the players answer to the team more than to the subjective opinions of the particular ref that calls it.

Wow! I have never heard this perspective about LSU fans. I have experienced the complete opposite while at games in Tuscaloosa with Tiger fans and have heard the same opiniion from other SEC fans. LSU fans are notorious for being the worst. I guess that goes to show you that a few bad apples can ruin the whole cart.

I have no idea really, maybe the assholes travel and the good people stay home?

I was expecting a ton of shit, but I dont know how many times would see a Florida fan walk by and they would yell at the guy or group of guys to come over for a beer. This was at various tailgaters also just not the few I was at.

I agree,

This is the last speck of the game, where it isn’t an outright business enterprise. I don’t like pro football for this reason, too many overpaid cry babies. I like seeing these young men fighting for their school and their own career.

There are fewer things better, than watching a personally heated game, like a rivalry game, which comes down to the wire. My 1993 loss to UCLA, which came down to less than a minute left in the game, still makes me shiver, watching QB Rob Johnson throw in INT in the endzone to win it.

Let the boys play, just not to Chad OchoCinco level.
