Eh, you should know it’s all cyclical. Saban and Miles seem to have a pretty damn good grasp on things, but still, I’m hopeful. Lol.

And seriously - Florida drops OUT OF THE TOP 25 after being beaten by #1 and #2 in the country WITHOUT their starting quarterback? God I feel like I’m living in the twilight zone.

So what do you think of super conference and playoff now?

Oh, I’ve always been and will always be in support of anything to get us as far removed from the BCS as possible. I’m to understand there a lot of revenue concerns and issues with student athletes playing so long, but dammit. It’s scary to think that some shmoe like myself who happens to be a beat writer or press affiliate may have an influencing vote towards who gets to play in January and not. Subjectivity is something that has no place in deciding the outcome of sports, especially with a multi-million dollar enterprise.

I’m telling you guys right now. Do not get over your ski’s about Shaw. Kentucky is absolutely rancid and there are probably 50 D1 QB’s who could have ahd that game against them with the kind of talent SC has.
This, seriously. Christ people, this was one game. ONE game, as Joe said, against the SEC’s cellar. Vandy is better than Kentucky this year.

Garcia has consistently been one of the most overrated QBs in the last few years, and the fact that there was a big issue over which QB was better (oops, I mean less-worse) should be a big red flag.

If USC intends to win the East all roads go through Lattimore getting like 40 carries a game.
Garcia isn’t overrated everybody knows he sucks…He’s just a vet an knows the play book. Shaw is the future and it’s time to use him. Garcia has proven he doesn’t want the ball.
Outside the QB position the team is good. So filling that roll with even a servicable QB is going to make the team much more dangerous.
We’re not LSU/ Alabama level though.

When do they get there quarter back?
Now that LSU and bama are out of the way, yes.

I am glad that my Huskers are on a bye week.

It will be nice to have a stress free weekend.

If Texas didn’t make so many mistakes and have all those turnovers, then it wouldn’t have been that bad of a loss.

In our loss to Wisconsin, three of our turnovers turned into 21 points for Wisconsin. Our team both had a bad game with turnovers and mistakes, we both probably still would have lost but the point difference wouldn’t have been painful.

What do y’all think about the call in the LSU game that took a touchdown away from the punter because he opened his arms before he reached the end zone? It was a personal foul, taunting call. Did not make a difference in the game but it cost LSU 4 points.
It should have been called and was called. It’s a rule. For one, you can’t even do taunting in NCAA VIDEOGAMES anymore because of this rule. You can’t do it in real-life either. Do you know why it hasn’t been called yet since the rule was established? Because no one’s been a big enough knucklehead or selfish enough to warrant the penalty being thrown.

It was the correct call.

I’m not saying this as a Florida fan, because I was pretty sure we had no chance anyway.
Agreed. It is against the rules, he opened his arms and that is consider taunting.

Its not like he open his arms trying to get a hug.

Definitely. Whether someone agrees with the actual rule or not, it was a recent rule voted in by COACHES across the country for a reason - it needed to be called! I’d be the same thing if this was SMU vs Fresno State or some real turd of a game I could care less about, too. If a rule is in the rulebook, it needs to be called every time.

^ yea man I can’t be the only pissed off guy on here.

You mean pissed off about some college football game?

“COACHES across the country” DID NOT vote this rule in. A 12 member committee (of whom only 6 members are D-I coaches) created the rule.

Look, football is an emotional conflict. I played it, and guess what, its intense, it gets rough, players talk shit and taunt, AND THATS SIMPLY PART OF THE GAME.

Sure, flag outrageous conduct such as flipping the bird or sitting on top of a player cussing at him not letting him get up, but DO NOT flag a simple mindless emotional reaction to a badass play. How is this punters “taunt” any different than players flexing in front of the crowd after a touchdown? How is this any different than a defensive player getting up and roaring after a big hit? Those are not flagged, yet this is?

Its a retarded rule that fails to understand what its like to play football. When I blocked a backer so hard I put his ass on the ground, you bet I whooped and hollered about it. If I got beat, you bet the opposing player talked shit about it. Did I bitch or ask for a flag? No, its part of the game.

That was my misunderstanding, then.

But no, you’re never going to sway my opinion on this, and this is an opinion-driven conversation. I feel like showmanship and taunting has no place in the game of football. Ever. I think it’s despicable and generally when I see someone spouting off their mouth or taunting I find myself rooting for them to get embarrassed during a game.

Greatest touchdown celebration of all time? Barry Sanders - hand the ball to the referee, and act like you’ve been there before. So, again, fundamental difference in opinions.

That being said, the rule DOES exist, so that’s that. //debate

EDIT: I also played the game. I remember a game in eighth grade where these assholes kept chop-blocking us the whole game (I played D-Line.) They kept talking shit, talking shit, talking shit. I kept my head down and eventually got 2.5 sacks that day, by far my best game ever. I said nothing at all.

Fair enough on the opinion driven debate point, no reason to go much further on this.

And yes, the rule does exist, so I cannot truly fault the refs for (selectively) enforcing it, but I still believe the rule itself to be the problem.

Shake hands and move on.

Lol! God, if only it were that simple to convey, hahaha.

I will give you that, about the selectiveness (not a word, I’m okay with it.) It needs to be a uniform call - or not. I can think of at least a few instances in Gators games I saw even last year where there was showboating and no-call, so I definitely agree with you on that.

But yes, good discussion.

yeah I almost started to believe the hype and think they had a chance sat. seemed like everyday on sportscenter they were hyping up UT and talking upset and what not. and really looking at who they had played up until then and how their games went it didn’t seem warranted. wasn’t too impressed with either of the two qb’s either, little mccoy seems to have more upside though.
things def wont be any easier this week with okie lite coming to town, d isn’t as good as OU’s but offensively they are pretty tough, should have a field day against UT’s secondary.
