It more due to the fact they only return like 6 starters. Lost the entire offensive line as well. #19 is low, but they will struggle this year.
Brady is back, With the same Avi.

How you been? Ready for the season?
What did you call my avi? The shiny vagina? lol

I am ready for the season. I am curious how our new offensive cord. does this year. I have no concerns about the defense, but the offense does have some questions.

Big question is going to be your QB isnt it?

And yes it was the light coming out of the vagina wonderful sight.

The Nebraska offense has lots of question marks, but the potential is there.

Hopefully the new OC is on the same page with the rest of the coaching staff. Watson’s biggest problem the last couple of years (besides being a terrible game day play caller) was being a round hole on a staff full of square pegs (or something like that). His natural offensive philosophies didn’t mesh those of the other offensive coaches or Pelini’s preference. As a result, there was no offensive identity, and we kept changing the scheme.

I was not a fan of Taylor Martinez last season at QB. I knew right away, no matter how talented he may be, the fact that a Frosh was at QB meant we would lose a few games. The poor offensive playcalling contributed too, of course. Martinez seemed like a one trick pony (straight line speed) that defenses figured out a month into the season (beginning with Texas goddammit!). A lot of Nebraska fans point to his injury a few weeks later, but D’s had already figured out how to stop the long run by then anyway (more the OC’s fault than his). He lit it up thru the air against Okie State, but that must have been a fluke because he threw like shit in every other game. He also was immature, a poor leader, and a poor decision maker. A lot of that is being a freshman and having an ineffective coach, not to mention sitting in front of a senior QB who started the whole previous year. His coach and his backups are now different, and the sound from conditioning and practice so far is that Martinez is now a much more mature and responsible leader. We’ll see.

The offensive line has also underperformed and has had issues with depth and injury. The depth appears to be getting better, but their performance is the key to our new offense being effective. If the new offensive scheme meshes with the OL personnel and OL coaches, the offense should rock. But that is still a huge question mark.

The defense is always going to rock with the Pelini brothers in charge. No worries there.

Anybody have any predictions about Michigan this year?

I don’t know how they will do. Could be better, can’t get any worse. My gut feeling is a 7-5 year, maybe 6-6. No bowl game.

I think Brady Hoke is a hell of a coach. He wasn’t the sexy pick for a program like Michigan, but I think he is the right fit and what they need right now. (Not the hero Michigan deserves, but the hero Michigan needs, or something like that.)

I think he’ll have Michigan back as contenders in a couple of years. This year will likely still be mediocre at best with so many changes. I’m looking forward to the QB battle between Robinson and Martinez when Nebraska visits, if both QBs are still healthy at that point in the season.

^ Anybody heard about sanctions against Ohio state? This should make it a one horse race you think with Nebraska? How does Wisconsin look this year, seems like they lost like there whole O-Line this year.

I guess its not surprising that the NCAA hasn’t said anything yet, but good god the season is almost here. I agree with your earlier post that OSU is likely to be out of post-season play, probably loss of schollies, too. I know the NCAA investigators are limited and have apparently been busy with other programs as well, but they need to start making decisions.

Sanctions or not, without Pryor or Tressel, OSU will undoubtedly be down this year, making Wiscy the odds-on favorite in their division. I honestly don’t know what to expect from Wisconsin, although I get a sense that their pre-season ranking is a bit too high. Everyone keeps saying that Camp Randall is a huge home field advantage for them, which may be a deciding factor when Nebraska visits in early October (NU’s first real game of the season, really).

Even if NU loses in Madison though, I would still have to think that Nebraska is the heavy favorite to win the Big Ten title (with a likley rematch with Wisconsin in the CCG) - but I’m sure my personal bias has nothing to do with that!

On a message board connected to our local newspaper in Lincoln, some Wisconsin fan was trolling and trash talking and predicted that Wisconsin would beat Nebraska by 21 points. LOL! Anyone scoring 21 points period against Nebraska’s D is in rare company, let alone winning by that much.

Forgot to mention one thing about Wisconsin - they are getting some hype because Russell Wilson transferred from NCState and will be laying QB for them this year. A lot of people are giving them some extra love for that, but I honestly don’t think he will help them that much.

Wilson is apparently a very good QB, but his experience is against the ACC (a few very good D’s there, but overall lower quality than the Big Ten from top to bottom), and he’s basically just being thrown into the offense (which is centered on the running back) with very little time to adjust.

How often do transfer QBs set the world on fire, especially in their first year? He’s not even sitting out a year like most transfers do, so its not like he’s been able to fully absorb the system and mesh with teammates. He is literally just now practicing with his new team for the first time this week. As talented as he may be, I don’t see him being uber-successful at Wisconsin this year. If Wisconsin thinks they suddenly have an all-star at QB and lean on him too much, I think they will fail. If they are to have a successful season, I don’t see Russell Wilson really having that much to do with it.

THE Kansas State. If the defense shows up to any games this year they should have a decent year.

Nebraska vs Wisconsin could end up being game of the year. Power running and Defensive game, I know for sure I will be watching it.

I have no clue how LSU ends up #4. Who knows which Jordan Jefferson will show up…it is all based off of history eventhough it has little to do with present reality. At least week 1 we’ll get some top 5 shake up with Oregon #3 vs LSU #4.

Either way, I am freakin’ ready!
My company is based out of BR and my boss has season tickets with his family. He is inviting me to the LSU and Florida game. They have the big 200,000 RV that is all decked out for tail gating etc. I am pumped to see the game and tail gate.
THAT IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY! You will have a blast. That game is scheduled as a night game. I hope CBS doesn’t bump that to 2 p.m. The night games rock the stands after that all day drinking and tail-gating. Enjoy!

Looks like A&M is making a move to the SEC next year. FSU, Clemson and Missouri also thought to move.

WHOOP!
Funny Ag, funny. So is this the year the A&M turns the corner? Can they take the Big 12/10?
I hope so. It seems like they are almost there but just can’t quite do it. I think they need to stop playing Southeastern Louisianan Technical School for Criminal Mischief and the like at the beginning of the year. Easy wins are soon followed by losses when they meet tough opponents. They need to be read to play their best at the beginning of the year and improve from there.

Unrelated and concerning a old discussion in your log thread; you should try a tri tip cut of steak. Cheaper than strip, lean and very flavorful. I smoked one this past week and was pretty good. Needed a more complex rub/crust, but otherwise pretty quick (only took 1.5 hours for 2 lbs) and quite tasty.
Just looked at A&M schedule and they have a good opener against SMU. A bit of a donut schedule actually.

SEC have won 5 BCS championships in a row, how can a SEC team not start out #1?

It just depends on the poll. SI has Alabama #1

Oh good, the SI jinx. Sorry Alabama.

If Bama had McElroy back I would put them at pre-season number 1. I do think Bama’s defense
will be as good if not better than OU’s, especially since Travis Lewis will be out for 8 weeks.

I still think LSU has as good a chance as Bama to make it to the BCS Title game. It’s the “Les Miles Factor”, LSU wins despite him.
