Could someone care to explain the differences between conferences? Why the SEC is such a powerhouse compared to others? Do they have better recruiting from high schools or what makes them so good??
Okay this is not an easy answer and you would have to know a lot of history. In college ball, success breads success in a sense.

Very easy to recruit players when you are winning and on TV.

Also it is all about coaching and putting together a good program.

Personally I believe it is because most of the SEC has a pro style approach to both offense and defense which helps recruiting for players that want to play in the NFL.
Cause like it or not college is JV for the NFL.
bread?

Of course if you bake it right it rises, otherwise that shit falls flat. Come on man I am starting a trend.

Here’s my take on it - Texas and Florida have the best/highest number of high school recruits. I’m sure part of the reason is both of those states have huge populations compared to places like Nebraska and Kansas, but the other part of the reason is because high school football (and really just football in general) is huge in those two states. A lot of recruits don’t want to move far away from home, and want the ability for their family and friends to be able to watch them play on Saturday (either TV coverage or in person). Thus the dominance of the SEC (Florida recruits don’t have to move too far away) and the attraction for conferences to want to pick up teams from Texas (getting TV coverage in the state = better recruiting for other teams in the conference).

Stanford is slowly sneaking up the ranks…

we are very very sneaky…

and then BOOM, we will be NUMBA WAN!

^ You think that will happen after LSU kicked Oregon’s ass? Serious question, cause you know its all about style points.

Not sure how the coaches poll keeps Boise at #5.

Unless they know something we don’t about UGA?

All Boise does is win man, gotta respect that. Beating a ranked SEC team in their own house? Impressive, and those helmets were pretty cool.

Wow, Bob Stoops doesn’t give a fuck if the Red River Rivalry came to an end!

Well just heard its Official A&M will be in the SEC next year.

There are a lot of people who simply refuse to give Boise any respect and automatically exclude them from any consideration of a championship opportunity (same with TCU in recent years, or anyone in a non-AQ conference). Fuck the BCS cartel!

Pat Dooley, a journalist for the Gainesville Sun here in Gainesville (SURPRISING) wrote a note about this. On average, they win against 1 good team a year. Sometimes they don’t lose any more games, sometimes, like last year, they lose to a terrible team. They beat an overrated Georgia team. Even if Georgia turns out to be really, really good, and they don’t lose another game, so what? It’s ONE GAME. Dooley’s line went something like this:
“If beating Georgia was all you needed to make it to the national championship, Florida would have been there 18 of the last 21 years.”

Even the worst Florida teams of the past 2 decades have been able to beat AT LEAST one good team a year.

^ Been arguing this point for years. Its football, whats makes the NFL great is that any given Sunday.

College can elevate to the next level with playoff system, cause then teams like Boise can put up or shut up. Take it out of the hands of guys (reporters) who weigh a buck fifty and never stepped on the field.

Not so fast my friend.

Know who should go into the SEC?

B O I S E

Rival game against the Gators every year. Battle for the Electric Blue and Orange.
Course you’d have to call it “The SEC+Boise” but who cares.

In case you haven’t already noticed, I’m drinking Bronco Kool aid.

I know, right. All that talent south of Tampa wouldn’t need to move 200 miles or whatever it is up the 75 to play at UF

Are you RETARDED?

If Boise joined the SEC, they would start losing games and suddenly everyone would wonder why anybody gave a crap about them in the first place.

And… USF? Sorry, we already have Vanderbilt AND Kentucky, we really don’t need another joke of a football team.
