Eh. I’m not so sure Georgia will be a 500 team this year, even in the SEC East. Their youth is talented but the juniors and seniors aren’t particularly great. I’m not too impressed with them (theoretically) currently, but anything can happen.

Semi off-topic, but I don’t know how many times Kellen Clemens will need to prove people wrong before he starts getting LEGITIMATE respect.
Agreed about Georgia.

I’m thinking at best Georgia is the sixth best SEC team after Bama, LSU, Miss. State, Arkansas, and South Carolina. It’s possible that UT and Florida will be better as well.

Right now I’m thinking Georgia=Auburn.

God… so fucking jealous.
I’m thinking I need to keep taking classes for the next twenty or so years so I can keep getting student tickets. I paid 105 dollars this year, and I get to go to every home game. Last three years it was 70. SEVENTY FUCKING DOLLARS TO GO TO EVERY GAME IN THE SWAMP.

Do not want to graduate.
How much do you pay in tuition?

Nothing. I have Bright Futures and I’m a National Merit Scholar. If I didn’t, it would be approximately 2500 a semester. Why?

During the OU-Tulsa pregame, this was a big topic of discussion. From the guys I listen to on the radio, it appears as though it will happen. OU, Texas, OSU, and Texas Tech are who I am hearing as going to the Pac-12.

The only exception to this is former Oklahoma State coach Pat Jones, and he says OU is going to the SEC. He said this on air, which makes me think there is something to it, as he doesn’t report BS. Either way, the Big-12 is done.

Jesus, that’s eye-opening. I was thinking heavily about UF (lots of family in Gainesville,) but decided against because it was pretty grossly priced for out-of-state CoL. And the ridiculous heat, lol. I was sweating today in 60 degree weather. :stuck_out_tongue:

By the way eeu, my cousin who was born and raised in Gainesville goes to FSU (iknowrite) and said if I can make it down in time she could probably get me UF/FSU tickets. zomg It’d be extremely tricky financially but it would be kickass! We’d have to meet up and grab drinks or something and pillage Florida chicks.

By the way, UF will win the East. USC = Overrated (good run attack, but beatable.) Georgia = Inconsistent. Tennessee = On the come-up, but not quite there, could contend though

Ya I mean I haven’t done a lot of price-checking elsewhere, but I don’t think it’s too bad, for in state. Almost everyone here has scholarships though. I love it, I wouldn’t go anywhere else, but I can understand feeling differently if I was from out of state.

Um…who the hell are you? I don’t claim to know everyone from Gainesville, but I’ve lived here my entire life, and I know the names of a lot of the people I don’t know personally. There’s a good chance I would recognize her name, or her, if you told me. I’m also very close with a girl who was born and raised in Gainesville, goes to FSU, and has some family up north…haha we may have to PM about this.

Yeah, you won’t find one cheap, but it’s worth it. It’ll suck if FSU rolls in here and kicks our ass, but I’ve been to the UF-FSU games the past 3 years, including 2 in Tally, and it’s just awesome when we’re winning.

I’m not ready to say we’ll definitely win the SEC, but I’m definitely optimistic. I don’t feel comfortable saying anything for sure until I watch 'em against Tennessee, but I won’t be surprised at all if they exceed everyone’s expectations this year.

PM me bro

A&M 46, SMU 14 Whoop!

If OU goes SEC that would be very interesting. I could see the SEC seen as THE conference and the rest as, well, the rest.

You mean the way it already is?

Basically, but more so.

Oklahoma, Texas (excluding last year) kept people looking elsewhere. The Big 10, while having impressive looking teams, have not had a solid bowl record. The Pac 10 has not fared well outside their conference as well. So if/once OU commits to the SEC, and with USC and Oregon looking weak, and Texas unproven this year, there would be even less discussion about the other conferences. In a sense, the move towards four big conferences would not even be as interesting as the SEC.

That said, if the Big 10 looks to be the major conference they will need to add some teams in, UT would be an interesting choice. I would like to see this, maybe take TX Tech with them. If UT commits to Big 10 I bet Notre Dame would jump to be included.

After that, the Pac 12 is almost forgettable if they do not get OU and UT. I have already forgot what other conferences there are.

Was not being an dick, I paid a lot for my education, my point was a lot of people have to pay and getting tickets cheap is a small price compared to tuition.

I personally want to thank that dick fuck Lane Kiffin, for taking away the sideline seats for former players. Fucking asshole, the only coach in the history of USC football to not let alum players stand on the sidelines.

Does anyone know when the new rankings come out ? is it today ?

^ Wow why and the fuck would he do that? I mean is he thinking the actual football alums are going to do something illegal?

awesome awesome awesome start to college football… TCU vs Baylor was epic… as was all the games throughout… somewhat disappointed with UGA esp since seeing LSU manhandle Oregon…

The swamp on a saturday night is awesome but brantley needs to stop throwing passes to the other team…

UM choked late…

For sure, I understand the point. What I pay in tuition doesn’t even come close to the amount of money you have to give just to have the privilege of buying good season tickets though. My boss gives thousands a year, as well as the cost of tickets (which they just raised another $15 per game) for his seats.

Brantley looked fine.

iono didn’t see many passes past 10 yds… im all up for taking what the defense gives u but still i’d like to see him open it up more against an essentially div 2 secondary…

about tickets… alum get shafted for gator tickets… so i’ve been using my 5 yo gator 1 to get into games… haha!

Could someone care to explain the differences between conferences? Why the SEC is such a powerhouse compared to others? Do they have better recruiting from high schools or what makes them so good??

Okay this is not an easy answer and you would have to know a lot of history. In college ball, success breads success in a sense.

Very easy to recruit players when you are winning and on TV.

Also it is all about coaching and putting together a good program.

Personally I believe it is because most of the SEC has a pro style approach to both offense and defense which helps recruiting for players that want to play in the NFL.
Cause like it or not college is JV for the NFL.

i think its a combination of several things…

 1. is definitely the pipeline states for recruiting… in recent years the south east has become a hot spot for college athletes.

 2. several big name coaches making their move to the SEC has really helped the conference dominate
