I have been looking at doing a 7-14day cleanse in mid july. I will be preping for America’s Strongest Man under 231 (105kg Nationals) directly after the cleanse to defend my title. I have never done a cleanse before so I am rather worried about a low protein intake since many cleanses have you on just fruit and veggy juice. Does ANYONE have feedback on how the cleanse effects performance? I would also be taking the time off from the gym.
If you’ve done competitions before without cleanse, why not wait until after competing when things settle down a bit more?
Because it might indeed be a factor.
I think trying it for the first time that close to a competition is not a good idea. Why not wait as was mentioned. I would be very hesitant to experiment with such approaches anywhere near a competition, especially for a Worlds Strongest Man comp. Good luck.

I have honestly put off a cleanse for about 2 years, I am always busy but if I do it mid july I have until Oct 20th to recover, ~13 weeks.
IMO…cleanses are useless.
Good Luck at competition!!
Several of the people in my offices are doing cleanses, which seem to be drinking protein shakes and grass juice and taking lots of vitamins, and they can barely get through the day just doing their sendentary office jobs. They constantly complain about low energy and headaches.
I wouldn’t do a cleanse so close to a competition - too many things can go wrong and it will be another thing for you to worry about.
What is your goal with the cleanse?
B.
I also think cleanses are useless, and a lazy attempt at fixing a bad diet. Following a good diet for as long as possible is better then 2 week “Cleanse”, and who says it’s a “Cleanse” anyway. It’s really just a fast, something religions do to teach themselves discipline.
