A knife? Pah! Real men use nail clippers and a sanding block. And then a soothing and fragrant moisturiser.
I haven’t seen a post that says you cut the skin off yet. If you have not cut off the skin yet I would recommend that you not put tape over it and then attempt to clean. I’ve done this once. What happened was that the tape held firmly to the loose piece of skin and through a couple of sets of power cleans my small bit of loose skin became a bigger pit of loose skin. I tore fresh skin off up to the middle of my pinky.
Cut it off and glue it over if you haven’t already.
This is where the internet has failed the current generation of lifters. Every little obstacle must be brought before the forum to be decided upon in committee. A simple problem has now grown to two dozen some-odd responses, accusations of a lack of manhood, recriminations back and forth … for the love of all that’s holy, figure it out.
15 years ago, or maybe as little as 8-10, you would’ve toughed it out til your hands calloused, gotten a different bar, scrapped cleans, or just given up and packed it in. Figure it out.

True.
