Hey, I have a question.
Your front squat triple, I was always told, should be equal to your best clean. However, my current FS is 230 x 3 (lbs) and my best Clean is 245 x 3. Would it make sense (and I don’t train that much, more for recreation, health) to stick with Clean triples for my quad work instead of trying to increase my FS, or might there be a problem I am not seeing?
For your cleans, how high are you catching them?
You must have a strong back.
You can probably front squat more than you think
We had a guy who could clean more than front squat. It’s the eccentric phase of the movement that’s killing you. Either speed it up or train it (nothing crazy).

I thought it was that you should be able to clean and jerk your front squat 3RM, but that’s really just a guideline. I’ve also heard (though far less frequently) that you should be able to clean what you can front squat. Personally, my clean and jerk has been really close to my front squat 2RM (currently my best clean and narrowly missed jerk is 2kg less than my best 2RM front squat).
TLDR: It’s a guideline, don’t worry about it too much.

No. If you’re just training for recreation and health, why would you choose the exercise that is more technically demanding that you seem to be more efficient at? Work on your weaknesses, not your strengths.

Probably. None of us can see it either, really, unless you bother to post a video or something.
Here is a post of a 245 x 3 (lbs) clean from blocks (trying to focus on quad strength as that is much lower than back)
Excuse my wife’s voice…she was trying to cheer me on…
That’s more like doing 3 quick singles than doing a 3 rep set when you’re taking that much time in between them. I was counting 15-20 seconds in between reps.
Agree with amayakyrol. Plus, the movement will be different because you’re doing them from boxes.
Typically, my best clean & jerk is right about where my 2RM is. Best clean is slightly higher than my best CJ, but not by much.
