Arnold will be pleased about this
I feel like pretty soon bodybuilding is going to have as many divisions as powerlifting has federations.
Chalk this up there with Bikini class A, B, C, D, E, F, (remember to pay your yearly NPC membership dues!), G, H, I, J and K.
Not about the money at all.

Of course getting more people on stage brings more money, along with more interest in the sport overall so its not necessarily a bad thing.
Not happy about it.
If the judges just stuck with the original tenets of bodybuilding evaluation, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
it’s bullshit

Exactly!
I agree with Clunk. I believe if bodybuilding simply stayed on a course in which competitors looked heavily muscled and symmetrical, but did not have to go to the ridiculous extremes of both size and leanness, then bodybuilding would have gotten more and more popular and there would be far more competitors. Because the average salary of IFBB pros is $0.00 per year, it’s not a surprise that there are not as much competitors as some organization head is looking for.
Hardly anyone with a job or a normal life can afford to go to extremes (financially, mentally or socially) mentioned, and I believe if there are still high judging standards, but with more manageable criteria. Many people with lives can build lean and heavily muscled physiques and actually participate for fun and satisfaction and no money. But don’t expect an appreciable amount of people to risk their health, jobs, social status, and so on for payments adding up to $0.00 per year. Then it’s not fun.

Well said, Brick.
I just think that when amateur contests are taking 3 days to get through the prejudging (how many female competitors cross over into every single category they can?), people will look back and want for the days of being a fringe/misunderstood pursuit.

That’s how it was some 50 odd years ago when I started (it was great to be a freak back then). Too bad you guys will never know what it was like!

No he would be to heavily muscled.
Think along the lines of Steve reeves, surge nubret, frank zane etc.
the classes work in a hight and weight limit. So at like 5’10 max stage weight is around 200lbs
Which isn’t exactly small.

You can’t put out anything new without people complaining…
I think this is a great idea. I can’t wait to see the physiques this class will produce!
