Cinderella Man

We all have something we turn to for inspiration whether it be the first Rocky film, Braveheart, Gladiator or perhaps it is photos of your favorite bodybuilders for you. When we feel as if we are going to cheat on our diets or just don’t feel like going to the gym these things help us get through those times and realize our goals. I had the privilege of seeing the sneak preview of Cinderella Man last night, and I have to say that it might be one of the best movies I’ve ever seen and deffinetly the best sports movie ever. It by far surpasses Raging Bull, Rocky, and Hoosiers. I encourage everyone to see this film and also I guarantte that it will motivate you.

I’m looking forward to seeing it, it looks great

Great movie, but better than Rocky and Hoosiers?..I would have to say no.

A great movie. Braddock was a good fighter and a good guy as well.

This was an awesome movie. This one will definitely win an Oscar for the best movie of the year and I wouldn’t be surprised if Russell Crowe didn’t also take if for best actor. It was very motivational. I will be owning this one on DVD.

Saw it and loved the hell out of it.

Zelwegger, Crowe, and Giamati dished out very complete performances, worth the accolades that’s for sure.

Not sure if it will snag best picture but it’s right up there.

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this or not, but I think Crowe really shines when he plays the part of a leader, or in this film the father.

I look back at Gladiator, Master and Commander, and now this film and think that these movies are fantastic. Perhaps it’s because he’s the rough and tumble “Man’s Man” when it comes to action sequences. But just as important he has this ability to show affection, concern, care, and hell flame away if you want, love.

He plays the doting father figure in Cinderella Man, which is his most obvious and unobstructed example as of yet, but also look back at Master and Commander and watch the scene where he’s instructing his midshipmen how to tell noon on the Sexton. It’s raw, right there on his face, he makes you believe that he’s the caring responsible leader that I think is an important quality to have in one’s repitior.

But, then, he goes off and starts a ruccus out throwing a phone at a hotel employee, showing yet again that he’s a grumbly over-ego’d punk who should only be let out of his cage to make movies…

All in all, though, cinderella man is a great film.

GAINER

elevationgain, how very bubblegum of you to get all dreamy over Crowe’s ability to express… love!

Just kidding Bro, I agree He does portray a leader of men well and is multi-faceted in those portrayals. I am looking forward to seeing this and I like when a movie can give you that motivational kick in the pants.

Ahh Elk dammit you got me, touche’.

Bet you were chompin at the bit for me to get sappy one day.

What’s fair is fair.

Well… I can’t say I wasn’t keeping my eye open. All in good fun.

I liked the movie…Though Zellwegger was horrible.

…from my own thread of the same title:

It was an excellent film and a great, great (though somewhat familiar, albeit this time true) story. Beyond the boxing theme was the context of The Great Depression. This movie dedicates a strong portion of its time to depicting this period and helping the audience – most of whom cannot fathom what it was like at the time – gain a slight touch of the sense of despair felt by, well, just about everyone at the time.

Crowe was great, as was Zellwiger (sp), but Paul Giamatti is – yet again – the scene stealer. He’s got a way with his eyes and a great voice and delivery – particularly when expressing some form of disgust…

I recommend it to all here, as I assume we all share an admiration for everyday underdogs who work tirelessly in the face of pain and struggle, who are driven by their love and dedication to their family, and who stick to their principles in the worst of times.

this movie was awsome, i mean just absolutely friggen sweet. i saw it last night, and i already want to see it again. of course the girl i saw it with didn’t like it, but it’s all good, she got me in for free, so i can’t complain about her bitchen. but i think braddock really exemplified what it means to be a real man. hes’ tough, he does whatever it takes to survive, yet when he realizes that he can’t make it alone, he’s humble enough to bow his head and accept help.

it almost made brought tears to my eyes, when he was standing in line for financial aid, then went and asked the boxing league officials for money; it was kinda like watching my worst fear. but it is without a doubt one of the best movie ever, better than hoosiers? yes, rocky? probably not.
