Christian Bale Rant on Set of Terminator

Seriously. Damn.

That’s cool, Emily. But I’m sure I’d eventually say something that would piss you off too. Somehow that always seems to happen.

At work I have to really get in the zone and let myself experience the trauma the kids I’m talking to have experienced. It’s pretty intense, they’re talking about heavy stuff, and I’m joined with them in a therapeutic alliance built on my ability to empathize, to really deeply feel and understand their feelings.

So I may be hearing about something and really be right there reexperiencing it with a client, and if, say, my office phone rings in the middle of a session and I have to stop to answer it…oh man. I’m like “WHAT THE FUCK? WHAT THE FUCK? THE KID SIGNED IN, YOU KNOW I’M IN SESSION, WHAT THE FUCK? YOU WANT ME TO COME OUT TO THE FRONT DESK AND RIFFLE ALL YOUR PAPERS? WOULD THAT BE OKAY? WOULD THAT BE OKAY IF I RIFFLED ALL YOUR SIGN-IN SHEETS? HOW WOULD THAT BE? YOU’RE SORRY? SORRY? FUCK OFF!”

I hope if you piss me off it’s not while I’m at work, because I can rant for a good 17 minutes straight. So don’t cause my office phone to ring, ID. DO NOT CAUSE MY OFFICE PHONE TO RING.

I think this is funny. People actually care. I find this just hilarious.

He’s an actor, NOT a role model. If people think he is, wow. This is why America is so screwed up. This actually makes news.

Do something better with your lives.

I should make an MP3 out of him saying “Oh, good for you,” and make it a ring tone.

Calm down, have fun.

Nah, no stranger than you bothering to respond that we need to do something better with our lives. I mean, you do realize that this is about the same, right? I think we all are actually having fun with this.

Or, maybe you were referring to the media/public in general, and not necessarily us… ?

I think he means you AND the general public. As did I.[/quote]

Well, OK, but I’m not letting it ruin my life or raise my BP, so that’s cool.

Sounds reasonable to me. I’ll be watching this movie opening night now.

What’s funny is how his popularity has tripled overnight because of this.

The amount of remix’s and their views on youtube is crazy.

What would be awesome is if they showed it when the credits are rolling at the end of the film.

Would have been a better story if Bale actually went after the lighting guy and got laid out as a result. “Batman, gets knocked on his ass by lighting guy.”

Did anyone see the Steven Colbert ‘remix’ of this last night?

EDIT: If you’re having a problem with this link, I’ve have better luck with this one.

Also, people need to keep in mind the cultural differences here. Among the Brits it’s fairly common to give someone an articulate verbal thrashing rather than just a “FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING FUCK! FUCK YOUR MOM AND YOUR FAT FUCKING SISTER!” more common to North American English speakers.

Think of “Simon” on American Idol during the first few seasons, before he took the trip to Africa, saw how good he has it, and realized he needed to chill the fuck out.

kid on laughing gas meets christian bale
