great quality and very inspirational pics. thanks for posting them.

my heart beat a little faster and i found myself getting a little anxious looking at those photos.

the experience of training with great lifters in an enviroment like that is…unmatched.

i had the pleasure of meeting a few of those lifters at an international meet a few years ago. i watched them do a ‘light’ workout the day before competition. in that workout i wantched a 150 lbs. man back squat 500 pounds for 3 EASY reps. unreal.

Great pics, I recall watching a video of this training center but I can’t find that link right now. It’s even more impressive in video, and things that would be a PR for me are just everyday training volume to someone 1/2 my weight. Crazyness.

…then she moved them 4 inches! Wow!

Of course it was done “easy” for a triple with no belt, wraps, or spotter after 538 clean and jerks and 492 snatches. That is how all olympic training lifts are performed.

My goodness, I don’t think I could even OH squat an empty bar with my hands that close together. I’m nearly gripping the inside collars just to get my measly 185 up. Does anyone else OH squat like that?

Holy shit.

i think they are doing ‘squat jerks’ off of jerk-boxes. it’s a popular jerk form, especially for lighter, asian lifters.

Nobody doing curls in the squat racks. Amazing.

Actually, most chinese lifters split. The top ones just happen to favor the power style (not really squat since they dont go very far down). Weird thing though, the two top greek lifters (dimas, kaki) used the same style as well.

khaki and dimas used more of a ‘power jerk’. the chinese - most split, you are correct - use a full squat jerk. the gold winner in athens, can’t recall his name, in the 77s won on a full squat jerk. bottom position identical to the snatch. i’ll look for a video.

i like the power style used by khaki and dimas. primarily khakiasvalis. in his younger days - he seemed off when he won gold in 2000 - it was so quick and powerful it almost boggles the mind. really evident in some of the ironmind tapes, as well.

dimas was great. very explosive. but the jerk seemed weak compared with his very powerful clean. khaki was solid in both phases of the lift but really seemed - to me at least - to have perfected the jerk. dimas would kick out one foot (to the side). khaki would hardly - if at all - move his feet. he got such strong drive and then would very quickly move under the bar.

a real pleasure to watch.
