It’s called conditioning, and it’s essential to emotionally survive killing another person.

DN, I think you are one of T-Nations most interesting members and you definitely add a lot to many discusssion.

However, let’s try to stay at least a little objective, even in a thread like this. Some of you will probably know Paul Carter from lift-run-bang. This is what he wrote in his latest training blog about what happened:
Paul Carter wrote:

Notes - Found out this morning that the Chiefs player who killed his girlfriend and then himself, was my friend Jovan Belcher. That makes three friends I have lost to suicide this year, so I pretty much went in and got some work in, but was really side tracked the whole time.

What an awful year 2012 has been…
It’s understandable when you call somebody who murders a human being an asshole. Despite that, I think it’s extremely important to keep one’s perspective and try to stay civil when discussing issues like this one.

I read Paul Carter’s blog, I love LRB and I can empathise that he’d lost his friend, but trust me, and I know I’m coming as cold hearted, I would have said the same had it been Paul killing his girl and mother of his daughter, and then killing himself.

I have nothing but contempt for people who do such things. That’s how I feel. I would have felt the exact same way toward my own brother.

I believe what Jovan did what selfish and full on cowardice. He wasn’t being civil when he ended his girl’s life. Do you really think people need to stay civil in regards to what he did?

So you think that someone who kills another person believes that that person is there property?..that’s my only issue with your statement?

We’re not talking about some random person here. We’re talking about Jovan fucking Belcher killing his girlfriend over an argument. It has been suggested it was over her cheating on him, and, it looks like he’d already planned to kill himself. He surely went like, ‘‘no other man should have her when I’m fucking gone,’’ and BANG! he shot her multiple times.

Fucking asshole. He never thought once about his 3 months old daughter who needs her parents ALIVE, especially her mother.

The girl said "she was leaving him and would find a lawyer to ‘get as much money as possible’ "

Ouch.
(The guys still a shithead.)

See DN, we don’t disagree on everything.

Wow that’s what he killed her over? She would have gotten about a quarter of his pay which I’m sure is substantial. Besides, from the sounds of things, if he hadn’t killed her, she would have been curled up in his arms a few days later having forgotten all about the whole thing. It’s such a shame when people are so stupid in one fucking moment that changes everything.

I can’t believe the Chiefs still played the game today and won. Props to them and to Romeo Crenell for going out there after he just saw some guy commit suicide. That really has to mess with your head after seeing something like that.

A part of me thinks that witnessing something like that doesn’t have the same emotional and mental impact had it been witnessed 20-30 years ago.

Wow. I can’t even begin to imagine how “recovery” could be achieved in that kind of situation (not via traditional therapy methods, anyway).

Wonder what happened to him.

Girl that works in my store saw her dad kill her mom and then try to kill her as a young child. Don’t know the full story but she goes to his parole hearing everytime and shes alittle “off” but I’m surprised she isn’t completely bat shit crazy.

I worked at a private elementary school in 2009, One of the fathers a seriously mentally off individual killed both his kids that attended the school and then himself before the mother got home… Something about a fight between the parents and him leaving a note for her… A disguisting and messed up story that leaves me feeling sick to my stomach… I don’t even like to bring it up or talk about it in detail to be honest… R.I.P.
