Not likely to find much agreement here. Do you actually know more than a handful of people that don’t play video games at all? Nearly everyone at least has a mate with a wii that they’ll end up messing around on every few weeks or so, females included.
That dude’s WoW time does have a tangible value, 15 a month x however many months he played, plus the potential to be sold for however much it was worth(not sure on account prices now haven’t played in a long time).
As for being a ‘worthwhile’ endeavor that is completely subjective. It’s a form of entertainment, and for some a little competition, trying to extrapolate more beyond that is just personal bias. We could get into a whole philosophical discussion on what is ‘worthwhile’ though, how fun would that be!(none at all)

Still no comparison. Making art is a worthwhile endeavor. There’s an intrinsic value to art in its final form, as well as the satisfaction of the creative process.

For what it’s worth, I pretty much learned English from video and computer games when I was younger.
I used to play WoW some years ago with some of my friends. We would play toghether online, sometimes using skype/ventrillo to chat with each other etc while in-game. I don’t see how that is much different from renting a movie with some friends or watching a game.
Your personal disdain for what another person finds “Entertainment” or “Worthwhile” is a matter of opinion. As this is an agruement based on ones property and unrightful disposal of that said property you have no rightful ground to claim. Because you have an inner legendary hate for videogaming is your personal rain parade. NOTHING changes the fact that she destroyed his time and property as it related to a HOBBY. I love video games, working out, martial arts, working on cars…plenty of women have set a flame to boyfriends rides and motorcycles. This shit has been happening since the begining of time. Women who want to make a point usually do so by taking what means most to the boyfriend and then using that to further elicit embarrassment and anger. If anyone tossed my PS3, 360 or wii…trashed my 08 stang or my martial arts gear I would be just as pissed for every offense…for I have MULTIPLE hobbies.
