Chest Problems: Pectus Excavatum

Have you ever work with or trained anyone with the chest condition called pectus excavatum, or “funnel chest”?
If so did you find ways to overcome it?

Shit, slow down with all the replies, guys!

Yea, actually a friend of mine had that a few years ago. He only discovered the issue when his chest collapsed while doing dips. Overcome it? Well, he had to wear a special shirt that had a metal rod that went into his sternum and kept his chest from caving in… I don’t know if I would call that “overcoming”.

I dont think he had it. You dont just contract it. Its something your born with. Was he doing dips at a young age? Anyway thanks, hope your friend recovered.

Over come what? Does it make any difference to his ROM?

Basically, don’t do anything that’s not comfortable for the client. Find his safe ROMs and stay within them.

But apart from looking freaky, I think he should be fine for anything. Maybe stay more in the comfort level for push movements rather than going all out.

This is what I initially thought!
This article seems to think that for most things it shouldn’t be a problem… but what are the limitations?
