I read every thread that came out in the Think Tank, and I look forward to doing so again.
Again, I would like to express my gratitude to Biotest and T-Nation. There is more information here, for free, than anywhere else on the web for any amount of money. I think that’s worth hitting the ‘End’ key when I want to get down to the Forums.
I wonder what the need for preemptive moderating is in the first place? This is the only forum I know of that moderates posted before they are posted. I understand that Biotest funds the mag, but looking at other supplement company funded forums, there isn’t such moderation.
Biotest generally has good products, and they should speak for themselves. I don’t understand the need to censor so much. Could this be explained? Thanks.

If only you could sit in a mod’s shoes for one day!
Given that we’ve gotten so big, approximately 30% of the posts we get are from other companies trying to advertise their products and services. They’re trying to take advantage of our large audience and get tons of valuable free advertising.
Just last week, approximately 50% of our readers got PM’d by a company that makes Fina conversion kits.
Another 10% are from trolls that work for other companies (we’ve traced them) that seek to disparage our products or services so they can in turn put in a good word for their products or services.
Another 5% try to post complete nudity or use racial slurs. (Posting them would anger a good portion of the readers.)
And finally, another 5% are just morons whose posts would bring down the collective IQ of the forum.
I hope I’ve painted an adequate picture. Believe me, moderating a site this big is a necessity.
About a month ago there was a thread about “What would you change about T-mag”…
I replied “Less censorship”…the post never made it to the board…
THEY CENSORED MY CENSORSHIP POST!!!
I just thought that was a funny story.
I’ve been censored here before and i just don’t care. when honest people honestly censor there is no problem. besides, what would a writer be without an editor?

The Cressy/Davies debate was more than just a car wreck. It really highligted how a couple of intelligent individuals could have significantly differant approaches. I wish they had a chance to finish. It was really unfortunate the direction is took and the timing of cancelling the TTD as it made it seem like that disagreement was part of it, although I believe TC when he said it wasn’t.
How did this turn into censorship? I thought it started as a discussion of the removal of the Think Tank Dialogs.
And yes I have been censored. No, I don’t mind. Some of the crap I’ve written should never even have been concieved, let alone read by others.
I have also been fact checked and spell checked a few times by a curteous moderator.Thanks.
I’ve been edited a couple times–yep! little ol’ inoffensive me–and each time I re-thought what I wrote and realized it could have been…inflammatory. Since that’s not my goal here (usually), I understood the action they took. But that’s me, and I’m not suggesting that anyone else should be happy with having their submitted posts altered or denied.
But this–though an issue with a powerful effect on the constituents–is a side issue, like watching an investigation into Whitewater turn into a man getting slammed for a blow job.
TTD: I read some of them more than once, and the view count was THAT low? I do NOT for a second believe that I’M in a minority when it comes to wanting hard core data from some of the smart guys. But the value in the information doesn’t come from how many people look at it while the conversation is going on. Eliminating it so that it can never be accessed again seems counter to the spirit of the Internet, much less this site.
Store: Keep it. Of course keep it. The seconds that I lose by scrolling past it 96% of the time I spend on the site is nothing compared to the convenience of having it (and the info on the supps) right there for the 4% of the time that I want it. 'Sides, the little logos are cool.
The blue area could probably be moved to the bottom of the page–available, but not taking precedence over the forums, which I guess is why most people check regularly.
Hell, do what you want; I’ll like it or not; I’ll stay or not. Life will go on. (But I’d sure miss wideguy’s posts.)
Good work bringing it back guys. Now we need to put up or shut up and read the damn things. To the writers, lets get some more great debates going like the legs one. We need more of that. Differing points of view. I know everyone respects everyone, but lets goet some hotly contested debates, like the value of stability training etc…
YAAAYYYY!!! I didn’t get to see the legs discussion because they dc’d the TTD’s while I was away from my computer for a week. Now I can see what y’all were talking about.
