Changing Whey Brands?

First post after a long time lurking! Absolutely first rate site - answers AND facts to back them up!

Question: I have been drinking the same brand of Whey proteinfor 6 months. I’m ready to place another bulk order, because I am happy with the results. BUT, is it advisable to change brands every once in a while for the sake of adding a new “mixture” to my system?

Thanks!

I tried a whey powder when Low-Carb Grow! was out of stock. And I tell you, I had the worst case of MUD BUTT EVER! So much for adding a new “mixture” into my stystem! Who knows it might be different for you.

I’d recommend a whey protein for you, but I’m a hardcore Grow! fan myself. Anytime, I use something else my stomach just can’t handle it. All in all, I don’t see any harm in adding in a new “mixture”. Peace Out!!

If you use crappy brands, yes, you may want to switch around. If you use a high quality brand like Grow! there’s no need to switch.

BTW, a blend of proteins is better than a straight whey for normal usage. That’s one reason to go with something like Grow! Do a search for micellar casein for more info.

Whey-only is good post workout though. That’s why whey is in Surge. A blend is better the rest of the time. Hope that helps!

I’m not yet addicted to Grow! and I’ve tried lots of different brands. MyoPro (EAS) is cheap and good. It had a strong chocolate taste. 100% Whey (O.N.) is also cheap and good. If you buy the 10lb bag you get a great deal on price. The chocolate taste isn’t as strong as the EAS protein (I prefer it a little watered down). It tastes a lot better than it did 6 years ago when I first started with protein shakes. Designer Whey’s 5lb Container is also a good bargain and the taste is pretty good also. I hope I don’t get hung for not being totally in love with Grow! and suggesting products other than Biotest. Don’t hate.

I think it’s a matter of preference. I should be taking Grow! B/c it’s a blend of Isolate and Casseine so it has both fast-digesting and slow-digesting proteins in it, but I’m a college student so I’m stuck drinking Protein-USA’s cheap stuff which compared to the rest of the stuff on the market is the best tasting (not as good as Grow! though). My advice…just find a protein you like and add extra granulated splenda to it and mix it in water, not milk

cough GROW! cough I would imagine most people here (including myself) are only addicted to Grow! b/c we have tried everything else and feel that Grow! is the best protein possible. I have had it all and Grow! is by far the best I’ve had. Another great meal replacement which may be more of a post-workout shake that is excellent is cytosport MuscleMilk. This stuff tastes SO GOOD and works great.

Hey, have you ever tried any Andro products like 19-Nor Andro ? anything in this family?? Just trying to get feedback, I’ve heard it really mimics the real thing.

Welcome to the T-Nation boards. You won’t find a site on the net as good as this one, when it comes to quality muscle building information.

As far as your protein problem I can only recommend the finest protein powder that I have ever used: Grow!

I have been in this “game” a long time (oh no Zeb is going to down memory lane again) and I can tell you that there is no better quality protein for the money, and no better tasting protein as well. I have tried them all!

It only stands to reason that the best site on net would also have the best products as well!

(I just reread this post and it reads like a paid advertisement. I obviously don’t get paid to post this stuff, but when you find something that works it’s only right to tell others about it)

Actually Zeb, if you threw an “OOKELY-DOOKELY” in there you’d sound like Ned Flanders (from the Simpsons). Eitherway a very content guy

Switch to Low-Carb Grow! for your main protein, and for post workout, ideally, switch to Surge. Now, Surge is pretty expensive (a container isn’t much, but there’s only a few servings per container, totals up to more than some can afford), so if you can’t afford Surge, a mix of WHEY ISOLATE mixture and a sports drink or anything else that has fast acting carbs for post workout. not just regular whey though, whey isolate. that or skim milk post workout. but for all other times you use a protein shake, look at Low-Carb Grow! great formulation with an even greater price.

I think if you give Low-Carb Grow! a try, you won’t want to back to your whey protein. It tastes that good!

I never tried Grow! until the new formulation came out. Ive tried them all as well. I always looked at price per pound and the company when I picked my protein. I used Champion Nutrition Pure Protein Stack for a long time. I found a very inexpenive source online($30 for 5lbs)but when I finally tried Grow!, It was a big wakeup call. I couldnt believe a protein shake could taste this good. The physical results put Champion to shame. Champion was cheaper by the pound, but I was consuming so much more of it than the Grow. It didnt make sense to drink twice as much of an inferior product for comparable results of a superior product.

I am a content guy  “oolely=Dookely”

Honestly, there isn’t much difference between regular old plain MPI and Low-Carb GROW! other than the taste. It’d be hard to find anything that tastes that good like Low-Carb GROW!. I have a plain nonflavored MPI and it’s probably the chalkest tasting i’ve experienced but it doesn’t bother me all that much. That was when Low-Carb GROW! wasn’t available and had to find something. lol. At least, I saved $$$ that way and bought MAG-10 Legacy! I start it next month after I get everything in order.
