Cats or Dogs?

not exactly sure how anyone with a soul can dislike either.

I really work too much and am away from home a lot, so a dog is out. Any animal in the house, who gets stuck taking care of it? Dear old dad… I can’t see myself walking a dog in the rain on a 40-degree night and I won’t have a backyard full of dog crap.

We have a cat now, my son was supposed to be adopting this small cat that turns out to be a 4 year old cat that weighed 20 lbs at the time. Freakin’ cat hid for 2 weeks behind the couch and would only come out to eat at night. Little by little the cat came out and interacted with us. We knocked some weight off her with a controlled diet and she has the run of the house. Where she came from, she shared a finished basement with 3 other cats.

This has got to be the only cat that doesn’t grub for food at the table. She only eats what’s in her dish, put human food in her dish and she won’t touch it. She doesn’t like to be picked up, that’s odd. She really took to my wife and is always on the couch with her or next to her on the floor.

Generally I prefer dogs, that being said, a TRULY placid, playful, goes a-huntin!, protects his or her territory like a motherfucker cat (like my cat Piper) is just about the coolest, most low-maintenance pet you can have.

I’d say the ‘trick’ with cats is you have to pet them/play with them a LOT while they are young…if you don’t, yes, they will very likely be scratchy fuckers & they WILL haunt your dreams!!

Dogs for sure. I have met a few awesome cats but most leave me cold.

I used to be a dog-guy, until a stray cat showed up at our door a little over a year ago. This cat is awesome. It acts a lot like a dog but is more independent. When we first got it, it was shy, “caved”, lots of scratching, etc. Now none of that. It is big for a cat, 14lbs and not fat. Its constantly running, hunting, or playing when awake.

It’s smart. It can open some doors. It understands handles (but hasn’t figured them out yet…soon I think). I can literally take it on short walks like a dog. It greets me when I get home. I can leave and it takes care of itself (unlike many dogs that freak out or need to be “caged”/kenneled). It has one of the most playful personalities I’ve ever seen…AND…

It is a ladies man. I wish I had had this cat when I was in my 20s. Whenever I go for a walk the cat will charge for any young woman it sees and immediately goes “belly-up.”

The above pic was take a couple months after we got him I think. He’s much too big to fit in those type of boxes anymore.

Dogs are like women - high maintenance, need constant attention, and have to be trained. Cats, like guys, don’t give a fuck about you as long as you feed them and clean the shit box. Dogs can be pretty useful though if you can train them for hunting, tracking or protection.

Hm… Is there something you aren’t telling us, Beth? You go tracking your prey down, and hunt down other females to protect your men from them?

I like both Dogs, and Cats. I have a thirteen year old labrador/golden retriever mix who is very loyal. All of the cats my family owns (not sure of who has which cat as a pet) like to hang out with me, and rub up against me. They also like to bring small animals in/at the house such as birds, rats, mice, snakes, ect. If the tabby/mancoon/thing we have that is a #fullhouse 17-18 pounds ever went hunting we probably would have dead adult rabits showing up on our porch.

The #fullhouse cat is also “#permabulking4lyfe”, and is still growing.

Cats tend to be indifferent, so am I. So the cat fits my personality better than a dog. The cat waits for me every morning outside the bathroom while I shower. She’s pretty loud, meows quite a bit. Funny that she has her favorite blankets in the house to sit on… drop a towel on the floor that was used after the pool to dry off, she’s all over that.

She greets everyone at the door, does her stop-drop-and-roll thing to get a belly rub out of anyone.

Here’s grey-grey the predator. She doesn’t let dimensions stand in the way of a good place to nap.

cats:
pound for pound one of the best land predators evloution has produced
independent
self-sufficient
clean
goofy
respectful
obedient (hit them once or twice and they will listen forever, people don’t do this enough)
more unique, and reflect their owners personalities (if acquired very young)
athletic (if fat, owners fault)
playful

can someone explain why dogs eat (their own) poop?

Dogs

Here is my dog Blue

I’m a pretty big fan of all animals, mostly from a distance. I love my two dogs though, more than just about anything else.
