So what? I already said I can’t. If he is asserting that inalienable rights exist and doesn’t just personally believe it, he must demonstrate that they do.
Why should he, if you don’t. Unless you are now claiming that human life has only the relative value each person assigns to it. In which case you can’t claim human life has value, merely that you feel like it does in your opinion. Which is to say, you cannot fault someone for disagreeing and not living by your personal unsupported opinion.
If he wants to assert it as fact he must prove it. I’m not asserting it as fact.

No, wait, I think DD has a point.
Why do you think human life has value? Isn’t it just another thing in the universe, no more or less important or valuable than anything else?
You want to walk him in circles around this gaping hole in his belief structure a while?
Circles? As opposed to believing in a book that claims bats are birds?

What?

and a really poor one at that.

How about, as apposed to a magic unicorn in your head enlightening you with special insight about human life that is so awesome it can’t be put in words or rationally considered.

I’m not asserting anything. I’m saying I personally believe human life as intrinsic value over other forms.

I will say we benefit from treating all humans as having intrinsic value.

You are not the Bible. I am attacking the bible. I will say it’s silly to believe the bible is the word of god because it’s filled with demonstrably false information.

One of those things is bats = birds.

I’m not trying to negate what you’re saying, I am saying YOUR belief system is HEAVILY flawed.

Intrinsic. Funny. Sounds a lot like “We hold these truths to be self-evident”. Self evident. Intrinsic. Hmmm…

How exactly are you coming to the conclusion that your belief is some how different and above proof evidence or logic?

Ummm… I’m not?

do you understand the difference between asserting a claim and personally believing something?

Again, rationally explain how the Bible was any way involved in the questions posed to you, and I’ll point out how your assertion is full of shit. Why did you suddenly attack the Bible? You are merely trying to divert attention from your own hypocrisy.

You are saying my worldview is flawed, I am also saying yours is flawed as well.

I’m not negating what you’re saying.

Step 1: have religious-like non-religious experience that can’t be identified
Step 2: believe human intrinsic value outside of rational explanation or physical definition based on voice in head during step 1
Step 3: ???
Step 4: profit

This is hilarious.

I have a handful of personal beliefs that I cannot justify while you have dozens upon dozens.

Yet my worldview is hugely flawed because I cannot explain why I value human life

Name one of mine.

Edit: by the way I’m not saying my beliefs are better. But I do acknowledge my beliefs for what they are.

You on the other hand have your own set of spiritual beliefs while denying them as such and constantly mocking other people for doing the same thing you are.

Not really. I believe one or two things I can’t prove while religious peoples whole worldviews are based on unjustifiable claims

Do you believe Jesus was divine?

So, it’s a numbers thing? What number of faith in improvable beliefs makes on silly?

Is your worldview not shaped by your belief in the value of human life? Seems like something that would shape much of your view of all parts of life
therajraj wrote:

That is actually an interesting question and not to dodge the question but it depends on what you mean by divinity. I believe he spoke truth.

I believe his human life had extra special value. hah.
