Cars - Euro Cool

CLS63

Best of Czech

I love unique colors for certain models.

You cant get yas marina on a regular 3series so that makes it a cooler color.

My general preference is Black first, then Silver for a sports sedan/coupe. But I gotta admit the more I look at the blue in SM’s picture the more its growing on me. Bottom line is a new M4 is gonna be fucking awesome. [/quote]

White cars are starting to grow on me. Both Maserati and MB make really nice whites.

You can’t beat white in a hot state like Texas. Its also the easiest to keep looking clean and they age better than any color, IMO.

I’ve had a lot of white cars in the past and I think I’d prefer black this time around. That is if I don’t end up going for something unusual like the Yas Marina Blue. I’d definitely go with the seven speed dual clutch on the M4. Even though I’m a big manual fan from way back and all the BMWs and Mercs I’ve driven and liked with manual transmissions this dual clutch transmission just takes away all the reasons for wanting a manual. There’s three different levels of shift “aggressiveness” with the most aggressive banging up through the gears faster off the bat than the manual and there’s never really a need to downshift for extra power - there’s always plenty on tap across the power berm, and you can downshift with the paddles on the wheel if you wanted to anyway. The dual clutch is .3 of a second quicker 0-60 than the manual. The only thing is the added weight but the M4 has heaps of weight saving features along with structural supports for chassis rigidity - it’s a perfect weight already and really well balanced.

As I said earlier in the thread, the only thing I’d like different on the M4 is rack and pinion hydraulic power steering instead of the new electric power steering. Again, this adds a little more weight and is less power efficient but I just prefer the natural feel and the vibrations through the wheel when the front wheels start to lose traction. But I’ll test drive of course and see what the steering is like. I’ve heard it’s pretty good and I’m sure I’ll be happy with the car overall.

And yes, there’s no way I’m going to shell out for the ceramic carbon brakes. I like big brakes and have always opted for something like six piston Brembo callipers or something like that but I’m sure I really don’t need ceramic carbon. Certainly not at that price.

I turn most of that stuff off. If you don’t know how to handle that sort of power you shouldn’t be driving something like that. Besides, these “stability control” systems slow down the outside wheel making it much harder to drift around corners. They tighten you up as you enter the corner. The whole point of driving an M4 is you get there faster than everyone else and spend most of your time sideways. And when you approach corners like that you need to have good steering feel. But I’m sure the f82 will meet the Machine’s challenging requirements; namely, to wipe the road with just about anything I’m likely to encounter(bar something that costs half a million and looks like a spaceship) and have the build quality and luxury expected of a top German manufacturer.

Sideways is slower. More fun, sometimes. But slower.

I’m not into lap times anyway. As long as you’re having fun and going faster than the other guy that’s the important thing.

It’s got that pithy, nasally tone that V8 purists won’t like but you can’t argue with the performance:

And in old Sydney town methinks. That looks like the Harbour Bridge on the Bradfield Park / Milsons Point side.

There’s an upmarket set of extras with the M class and other classes at BMW called “Individual”. They do a range of things like a little bar fridge that fits under the rear centre console to a wood inlayed steering wheel which is normally only on the prestige class. They offer I think five other colours for the M4. One of them is a different type of black. The others didn’t look very interesting. They offer a two tone full leather interior that looks really nice. One example is attached. That’s the Sakhir Orange and Black two tone interior. I was thinking of a Sonoma Beige and Opal White two tone full leather interior with the white ash wood panelling. And the BMW Individual extras look interesting. One is an option to have some or all of the car’s badges removed? I read that some people don’t want to advertise how expensive their car is. That kind of defeats the purpose for me which is obviously to drive around laughing at all the stupid poor people in their piss ant little cars. (Joking). No seriously, I like the idea of not advertising the power within. The M4 just looks a little too sporty for me. I think I’d prefer a more understated lines like on the Juguars and some of the Audis and the Bentleys.

And this picture is the M4 with Individual two tone Opal White and Golden Brown:

I’m pretty sure those are the two leather options in that pic. I don’t like that combination. It reminds me of those two tone winged shoes in the 50’s. It’s a crass combination of colours. But the Opal White with something complimentary like the Sonoma Beige would look great especially with the white ash wood panelling.

What I don’t like about a lot of these exterior paints these days is they’re all metallic looking. However I have seen a lot of cars in that dull, charcoal black that looks like a car that’s just been sanded down. Yes, the yellow offered for the M Class is terrible. Almost a metallic mustard which is one of my least favourite colours along with metallic pottery orange.

One of the things I always loved about Mercs and Beamers is the weight of the door and how smoothly it moves; it doesn’t get stuck partway open and come back closed at you like other cars when you’re trying to get out with stuff in your hands. And when the doors and the trunk close they fit flush and “clunk” with that sound of precision craftsmanship. So that’s what I’ve always aspired to. The quality and workmanship. Along the way I’ve made do with American/Australian hybrid V8s, a Japanese Sports six, a domestic Commodore v8 but now I want to get a great everyday driving and travelling car that will hopefully last the rest of my life. The Mustang looks like a great car but it’s really hard to pass up on the BMW. Maybe the Black M4 with the Opal White / Sonoma Beige / White Ash is the way to go.

Not going for the brakes as I said but there’s some really nice interior options available under the Individual M Class range of extras:

Dark woods and different leather colours and two tone options and so on. I’ve got a first quote back from the dealership and it’s a heck of a lot of money to justify but I’m finding it hard to resist…must have f82…

I’d like to keep a look out for a second hand classic if it comes along at a good price. From '07 to 2010 Mercedes did a CLS with a naturally aspirated 6.2 litre V8 producing over 500 hp. I’ve heard they were really sweet. I really should test drive some of these newer German cars.

I think the thing is with traditional men driving can sometimes be a matter of honour. Like knights and their steeds and jousting; there are times when you need to be confident that you can assuage the disgrace of the gauntlet in the face when some little cocky prick in his 911 go-cart or Japanese toy tries to lay it on thick. That’s when it can become a matter of honour and you need to be confident you can leave them choking in your dust in the rear mirror or exchanging insurance details with a brick wall if they want to push it too far. I just can’t abide dangerous drivers.

Have you guys seen the interior of the Mercedes Maybach S600? Wow! Rather than me post a pic just do a search of google images for “Mercedes Maybach S600 Interior” and look at a few different pics. Get a look at the steering wheel and a good look at the back seats from different angles.

It’s got thick, plush carpets and quilted, soft leather seats that look soooo comfortable and the back seats have foot rests that allow regular height adults to recline completely. And did you see the little quilted pillows for sleeping? The dash console has superb mahogany polished sections with the beautiful cream aluminium; beautiful hardwood steering wheel and the whole floor decked out in the thickest, plushest carpet you’ve ever seen. It’s so fancy. Apparently the Maybach label was recently dropped from the Mercedes premium price range in the US and are now 190,000. That sounds like a lot but I’ve heard it’s the only thing coming close to that luxury level for that price. Of course over here(Aus) they’re like 600,000+. This is a shit place for buying cars. But holy shit look at that interior! I could live in there. Just take a dump in a 19th Century chamber pot and throw it out the window onto the peasants in their prole-carts and laugh at their horrible little vehicles.

Yes, google images “Mercedes Maybach S600 Interior” - see if you can scroll down and find a close up of the wood trim around the instrument panels. The quality of workmanship is amazing. It’s like it’s been done by worldclass master cabinet makers - actually it probably is. But this is what interiors of cars should be like. We should mod our own cars for comfort and convenience if we can’t afford it because most of us spend a large part of our lives in our cars and it’s supposed to be enjoyable. And I love driving. Whether it’s a 1000 mile road trip or just a late night dash to the service station I want to be in the nicest car I can reasonably afford. Okay, I’ll post one pic of the Maybach but you’ve got to google some other pics to get the full idea and maybe watch a video of the interior on youtube. It’s superb.

I’d take a maybach over the rolls anyday

Beautiful car.

Too bad it doesn’t run.

I’m going to cheat a bit and post the Laraki Epitome. The car is made in Morocco and is “fitted with the engine of a C7 Corvette V8, Laraki added twin turbochargers to the already powerful engine, fueled by 91-octane gasoline. The Epitome can produce 1,200 HP, and a second fuel tank filled with 110-octane fuel up it to 1,750 HP. The body is made of carbon fiber.”

This car is bound to be a trivia question one day: “I’ll take African supercars for $1,000, Alex”

That paint job is criminal. It has nothing to do with the Seahawks, it’s a Ferrari. Leave it be.
