Cardio

When I do cardio after weights, I lose my pump. Is that bad for gains?

BS, cardio will keep your heart healthy and help you stay lean. A good pump is only a temporary “visual.” Ultimately it’s a decision you’ll have to make, but considering the benefits, I’d vote for the cardio.

But more to your question, if you’re a hard gainer, you might want to keep your cardio to two days a week. LOTS of cardio could make gains more difficult to achieve.

What I like to do is after weight training I go into the changeroom to admire my pump. Then I go and do cardio. Egoistical? Maybe, but that’s what bodybuilding is about. The PUMP! Oh yeah, eet’s like come-ink!

Loosing your pump isn’t, but the postworkout cardio might be.

if you keep your cardio to 30-45 minutes, you should be ok

Thanks for the input guys. I do 20-30 mins of cardio fater weights. The reason I ask about the pump is not in the cosmetic sense (I’m not a newbie).

My thinking is, if I do cardio after weights, the blood that is concentrated in the muscles (whatever bodypart I’m working)will be circulated around the body (which causes the loss of the pump) might be bad for gains?

Here’s an idea: Separate your cardio and weight-lifting sessions.

I don’t believe the pump is indicative of progress anyway. I can get a pump from a set of pushups…that doesn’t mean I’m stimulating gains. So, the loss of a pump might not mean anything. The post workout cardio, however, needs to be kept in check and signs of overtraining must be monitored.
