Cardio respiratory and Aerobic Demands of Squat Exercise

I’m sure, the way most weight trainers train (1 hour 3-5x a week), would be far more ‘intense’ than 20-30 minutes of level 1 or 2 cardio 4x a week. I’d be more inclined to go with well performed medical studies over a cardiologist myself.

I’m still looking for the cardiologist’s recommendations of 1-2 resistance training / week only!
And
No “real cardio” sessions :innocent::grinning:

BTW
A very popular post!
I wished this post was on Run Hitter Run dot com

LOL I think we know what that comes out to, about the average American’s WOL lol

It’s hilarious now a days how people;can think exercise is bad omg, how lost people are these days. People are lost on nutrition, muscle growth, fitness, it’s ridiculous.

The study was a well performed, long term medical study.
The cardiologist was merely commenting on it for a video. It was a video in a series for older trainees. The cardiologist was picked to comment, because he is a trainee himself.
I’d rather pick the views and expertise of a cardiologist than those of a self styled internet “expert” like ol’ one trick atp…

You may be correct about how most weight trainees train…but let’s not forget where ol’ one trick is preaching / plying his trade…it’s a HIT message board. Most on here ARE only doing about one, two or three brief sessions a week.
Couple that with an active lifestyle and you’re probably golden.
IF ol’ one trick needs to peddle his message, then let him be brave enough to wander into the other sections of the t nation message board world to preach the cardio gospel. I’m not too sure that he’s done that as of yet. I wonder why…

And that’s your big Straw Man argument, because NO ONE on this thread is advocating for that!

oh ok, I thought it was just the opinion of a doctor

Read carefully

Here’s where you fail to read between the lines while drawing recent research together.
The cardiologist comments on the research showing that too high a ratio of work done over 9 METS is not optimal.
Also a fair bit of recent research on weight training and longevity demonstrates that 40 to 60 minutes or resistance training per week is optimal.
As nw lifter says above…some of that >9 METS work can be had from resistance training. The rest (9 METS or lower) can be gained from an active lifestyle.
I think that applies to most people on here. Job done for you…you’re welcome. You can go crawl back in your hole now.
I’m happy to have spelt it out for you…

“I see now”, said the blind man.

…spelled…

You are okay
Longtime blue chip iron men get a pass due to their loyalty to the trade of lifting
And you certainly are a longtime lifter

spelt’’ is grammatically correct and is more used in British English . American English uses ``spelled’’ instead.”

I’m English…from where the language is properly spoken.

What a crock of $#!+. If you really were, you’d say you were British.

Why? I’m English, not Scottish, Welsh or from Northern Ireland. Please tell me why I have to say I’m British.
You can believe what you like…I know where I’m from. I don’t have to justify it. Sorry if I proved you wrong…but it’s “spelt” where I’m from…:joy:
