Hey I’m a noob here. A friend linked me the site and I really like it. LOADS of information here.
Ok, to start I’m 5’9" and 183 pounds. I’m sitting at roughly 17 percent body fat. (One of the trainers at Gold’s took my stats and I held this little device. It sent a small jolt through me and gave me that reading. I don’t know how accurate it is.)
My goals are to drop some weight (down to 170-175 or so) but more importantly just to lose fat and gain muscle. The main reason I’m doing this is to get into good shape so I can start doing Muay Thai kickboxing and eventually mma.
Now, I’ve browsed the articles and the t-dawg diet and the “fat to fire” workout. The science behind it all makes a lot of sense and I’m really pumped to get started. However, one thing I noticed was the lack of cardio.
Assuming I’m eating right (calorie intake, protein intake, etc.)and hitting the weights is doing 3 25 min. sessions of cardio detrimental to my efforts? I know that simply having muscle burns fat but if I go into that gym without much cardio it’s going to SUCK. If I need to alter my diet or exercise a bit I don’t care, I’m ready and willing to start busting ass.
First any newbie read the pinned threads at the top of this forum and the links in them they will answer a ton of your ?'s and add to your basic knowledge

again why not let the Mauy Thai get you in shape for Mauy Thai?? there is also a great recent article on conditioning for fighters on here etc. Look at it.
Your main worry needs not be a % of body fat but getting in shape performance eat for it and train for it your sport if you are performing well and consistantly better your body will get into the form it needs to be in the best form for you for said sport.
Work your but off eat good foods Start the mauy thai ASAP if thats the sport you want.
Well I kinda left out the part mentioning I’m doing it for good looks too
You’re right, I’ll just start the sport sooner. Can you link me some of the fighter conditioning articles? I’ve been sifting through pages and pages with the site function without much luck…
