As I have slight hypertension at a young age I’m equally interested in being cardiovascularly fit as I am in getting strong. What is the best time for me to do the cardio in order to least hinder my weight training progress. I am not at all interested in cardio as a fat loss tool, I have no body composition issues other than less muscle(slowly getting there).
Why differentiate the two? Do some strongman movements and circuit training along with your weight training. For instance, at the end of a leg day, grab some heavy dumbbells and do some farmer’s walks. On off days, do light circuit training for 30-45 minutes.

I appreciate the advice, and I did try this for awhile. However, I found that my resting pulse rate is much lower when I train my cardiovascular system at greater than 155bpm. I find this to be much easier through more conventional cardio than through circuit training.
My personal favorite, Guerilla Cardio (google it, the first link…it’s a PDF file though). It’s very intense and works amazing in just 4 workouts with it (I sound like I’m selling it now heh).
