CARDIO 2X Daily question4John M

Hey John,

I see you were doing cardio 2X a day the last two weeks of your diet.
I have been on a diet that Bill Roberts helped me out with for 8 weeks. I am down from around 20% BF to 15% at 240lbs.
I am not natural (I am on over 2000mg of Test per week-among other things)
So since I am not natural do you think cardio 2X per day would drastically help me burn more fat or would I just end up losing muscle?
IN SHORT: If on drugs will doing cardio 2X daily for over 2 weeks be good or bad?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I’d say if you ARE on drugs & your goal is to get as shredded as posible do the cardio 1-2 times a day.
Pro’s when getting ready for a show do many cardio sessions daily for a total of up to 2-3 hours!

So I think you will be fine!

With that kind of drug use I think you could do just fine with 2 x per day cardio. I did 2 week cardio blitz while on nothing but surge, tribex, and zma. And I started at about 5-6% fat. Your relatively high body fat and drug use will help you lose mostly fat on this. You could go a month at 2 x per day and still get great results. Just remember, Im assuming your goal is to drop lots of fat fast! If it’s to “get huge” then this might not be the best plan.

Your assumption is right. I am trying to get as lean as I can as fast as I can.
I am going to start today with 2-30min sessions.
I also just ordered some Surge, I know I’ll want a serving after my workout plus cardio, do I need it after my cardio only session?

Thanks again for your input John.

you can take it just after wts plus cardio…post your results so that we can see how you’re doing!

I’m sort of in the same situation as the guy who posted this (250lbs, 22-25% bodyfat). I’m interested in the idea of doing the cardio 2x a day for 2-4 weeks since I have so much fat to lose, but I’m following the fat fast program. Is that a good idea for me to do that much aerobics without the help of drugs and on such a reduced caloric diet?

I’d say if you are not on drugs and you are on such a drastic diet already to just do cardio 3 times per week tops.

At 22-25% fat, why not start with daily low intensity cardio (30min per day at 60% HRmax). Then if you need more, just bump it up to 2x per day 1x per week. If you need more, up it to 2x per day 2x per week. And so on until you get lean. Everyone here knows that I have a rapid metabolism and start dieting at 8-10% and if I can get away with this type of cardio protocol, you certainly can at such high bodyfat%. Drugs or no drugs!

Wow, Thanks. I am incorporating your suggestion posted in the appetite for construction where you suggest cardio after lifting and in the morning on non-training days. I’ll see how I respond for the first two weeks and add accordingly. Congrats on your results and I appreciate the response.

you are doing 2000mg of test plus other stuff and your on a diet and you only went from 20 to 15% in 8 weeks? dude get your gear somewhere else and change the way you train.in 5 wks I went from 258 to 230 while I gained about 25lbs of muscle( and no gear )if you want to loose fat do low-intensity arobics every day, twice a day if you want(walking is great)forget all the bull about time of day and stuff like that, what matters is cals out are more than cals in. you will loose more fat if you do more intense arobics but you WILL loose muscle. I don’t know anything about the diet you are on but just PLEASE don’t cut out to mush fat.

To “HetYey,”

The reason I didn’t see huge changes in my body comp is because I am on year round at at least 2g per week.
That is now the normal state for my body. I could probably see better results with say 3g per week however I’d just assume save that for a bulking cycle.
Also I have lost NO MUSCLE so I am relatively happy.

Hetyey225: If you really lost that much weight and gained lean tissue at the same time, naturally, then congratulations to you, that’s an incredible achievement. But, that doesn’t mean you could do it again (wouldn’t that be nice?). This falls into the old “what works for one doesn’t work for another, necessarily.” JW is obviously working within a completely different set of parameters, and what his body is used to means it reacts differently. He probably doesn’t have 30 or so pounds of fat to lose (I’m confident he doesn’t), and frankly may not have 20 or 30 pounds of muscle to gain (do you JW?). At two grams maintenance, he can pretty much do whatever cardio he wishes for whatever effect he’s looking for.

No John, I can’t imagine I’d be able to add another 30lbs of LBM (That would put me well above average Pro Size) NOW if Hey or whatever your name is you are indeed natural at 230-250lbs and lean you have pro quality genetics. (although I have never met anyone with your stats that is natural) Then again if you are like 6’8" rather than say 5’10" I’m not impressed anymore.

Also I find the slower I go (although not too slow) the more muscle I maintain. And 230lbs lean is where I want to end up. Not 205 lean.

I did not know the gear was a constant state, than yea you can do just about any cardio you want. I’m 5’10" I never said I was lean, 'cause I’m not yet. I don’t have pro geans, right now I’d probably be lean at about210# as far as natural I am. and I’m not a genetic freak when it comes to size , just strength in 6 wks+ of working out again I’m deadlifting 585x4, hammer low row=360x7, squat=405x11, naut seated dip=stack(320)+40#x9 I have toooo many flaws to ever get into competion (short bi’s,a flat spot on left pec, ect…)but in another 2-3 months I WILL be a lean 225# deadlifting 750-800. not bad for a non gear guy!

Hetyey225, I find it hard to believe that in 5 weeks you lost 53 pounds of fat while gaining 25 pounds of muscle. That would mean you lost 10.6 pounds of fat per week and gained five pounds of muscle per week. I think you may been exaggerating your gains or have miss-typed the information in your post.

“not bad” Being lean at 225 is exellent for a “non gear guy” or a Heavy juicer!

I have pics to prove it (I have not taken “after” pics yet, in 2 more months)hey if any of you guys are in the south jersey/philly area I’ll take you to the gym with me and I’ll even have some friends stop by to tell you about “before”. don’t get me wrong about juice, after I get to where I want to be I’ll probably do a small deca/sust cycle so its not that I have a big moral stand against them ( I would like to be about 240 lean). I AM naturaly pretty strong so I’m sure that has alot to do with my gains. Also although I don’t believe I’m exagerating the 25# was an estimate and my wt. moves up and down about 5# during the day so its plausable that 258# was my highest for the day and 230# was my lowest for monday but I realy don’t raely think so. example= first workout back was 175x5 on nautilus seated dips last work out was with 360#! and no they are not partial reps I lower the seat as far as possible and my elbows go just above shoulder level.

JW, I agree with you that “going slow” is more effective, though it took me a long while to figure it out. Really only in the last few years have I figured out how to hang onto my gains and continue creeping up, in a cumulative sense. By the way, while using what you’re using, do you ever perform cardio, even moderate cardio, the same day as a leg workout, assuming your leg workout was in the a.m.? I’m thinking when not in a “preparing for a competition” phase. I’m periodically tempted to do so, but try to refrain, not that my legs are too fried to do some easy biking, but I’m just afraid my CNS won’t handle it. Just curious.

I have a physical job so in generak I do not do cardio.
10lbs a week of fat loss with 20-30lbs of an lbm gain in 1 month is just mot posible. Youy would have to be on lots of DNP for the fat loss and some magical gear for the muscle gain that has not been discovered (because you don’t gain on DNP!)
Are you sure you didn’t mis post your info Hey?(With those gains you could easily have won Bill Phillips stupid contest!)

it is possible to do what I’ve done so far 'cause I’ve done it! In 2-3 months I will be posting my pics on my web page. you can choose to believe it or not, if you read my last comment you saw that I said the 25# was an estimate and the bodtwt loss could go 5# either way. but I know I lost 4 inches on my pants size and gained almost 2 inches on my arms(1&15/16ths of an inch) so I don’t think I’m off by that much. I’m just showing HIT WORKS!
