Carbohydrates

Will high glycemic carbs cause you to be real weak and slugish? i have a hard time eating yams, oats, brown rice.

Sounds like the carbs are playing havoc with your insulin and blood sugar levels.I used to have the same problem. In the past I tried eating lower glycaemic carbs and,if I did eat higher glycaemic carbs, eating them in smaller quantities. This helped a little, but the real breakthrough came when I switched to a low carb diet.I try and keep carb content at each meal to 20 grams or less, eating high quality fat and protein at every meal. The one time I really boat load the carbs in is right after a w/o and I’ll also often exceed this carb limit for my last meal of the day.I have seen some dramatic improvements in other people as well using a similar startegy. There are a lot of low-carb books around,my favourite approach is `Neanderthin’ by Ray Audette, just add post-workout nutrition to his recommendations and ignore his comments about vitamin/mineral supplements being unnecessary.Good luck whatever you do.

Oats make you sluggish? Are you sure you are not eating some industrial processed sugar filled crap oat meal? Did you try natural, not processed oats? What is the size of your portions? Do you have a history of diabetes in your family?

My buddy gets really phuked up when he eats high glycemic carbs-so for some the answer is yes.
