Carbohydrates Role On T-Levels

I have allways been curious on what the role carbs play on t levels? I know so called fat is the best t inducer, but when I up my carbs why is it my sex drive, aggression, and strength go through the roof? When I up my fats and keep carbs low I don’t ever get a great surge in T. I wonder if its the effects on liver and IGF levels?

What Im getting at is I think insulin is necessary for optimal t levels. When insulin in constantly controlled it seems to do a job on T levels. Any of you science guys out there that could chime in, please do!

I’m pretty sure if you spike insulin to much and your blood sugar levels get low, cortisol levels increase, and cortisol decreases test levels.

Studies have shown a positive correlation between insulin and free testosterone. A search on pubmed should help you find some answers.

Who says high carb diets or higher carb diets spike your insulin all the time?
It’s the quality that counts.

I agree and think if your looking for optimal you will not ignore any macro and pay more attetion to total intake. If your well fed T levels will be high and timing as well as choices.

If you ignore any macro and the micro nutrients that come along with said GOOD food choices your selling yourself short if optimal T levels and health in general is the goal.

What Im getting at is, Ok high fat is suppossed to increase t the most<but there has never been any studies done on LCD effect on t levels when insulin is kept low. Im not just talking calories. So it was in my interest to understand specifically carbohydrates role on T levels. Im not talking about just insulin spikes. Obvvously the goal of lcd is to reduce insulin, in my opinion despite increase in fat or caloreis that still lowers t levels. I am curious to know how INSULIN the hormone as a whole (not spikes) has a role on t levels? NONE HAVE answered.

i found this posted by D kalman reporting a study.

A high fat/high protein diet was studied in healthy men over an eight week period. This diet (7% carb, 28% protein and 65% fat) was found to negatively impact both total and free Testosterone levels (-21.7% and 23.3% respectively) for eight hours after eating a fat rich meal (16). This may tell us that all of those Atkins dieters out there are not T-men.

HMM, kind of confusing? I thought High fat was supposed to increase T levels???

Hmmm…study duel!

Effect of meal fat content on salivary testosterone and cortisol levels in healthy female volunteers

Interesting doesn’t mention an elevation in cortisol post carb meal, but shows an increase of cortisol after a high fat meal. And this is in women.

Another very interesting article-
