Carb Backloading, Training/Non-Training Days

Quick question regarding CBL, just to make sure I have it correct. I get that if I train on a Monday, I would backload on the sunday night. Let’s say I trained on Monday and did not train on Tuesday. Do I still have atleast a PWO shake and then no carbs at dinner/rest of night after the training session on Monday or no carbs at all since I’m off Tuesday?

Your carbohydrate intake for the week is far more important than what you ate on Monday versus a Tuesday.

I would figure out your calorie/protein/carbohydrate/fat numbers, plug in your peri-workout nutrition first, and then make up the rest. If you want the majority of the remaining carbs to come at night a’la carb backloading then have at it.

Just backload everyday, but with varying amounts. Makes life much simpler, and allows you to function when you are training. Although Kiefer of Carb-Backloading only says to do this when bulking, Jason Ferrugia and Nate Miyaki ( who all basically support the same idea- carbs at night) recommend eating carbs everyday. My two cents

You’d backload the night before if you train the following morning. If you’re training at night, then you backload after your workout. That’s my understanding of things. I also make sure to get carbs intraworkout no matter what my plans are for eating the rest of the day.

It would depend on what time of day you are training on Monday, and if you trained on sunday. If you trained sunday evening then yes, carbs sunday night. If you did not train sunday evening and are training monday morning then yes, some carbs sunday night. If you did not train sunday and are not training until monday evening then no, no carbs sunday night.

Its may be a bit confusing, but that’s because you didn’t give enough info. How is your training week laid out? What time o day do you lift? What volume/intensity are your working at?

And DO YOU HAVE THE BOOK?

Then you’re not following carb backloading. In the book kiefer is adamant about no carbs pre or peri workout. There is only one exception to pre workout carbs, and that’s late night training i.e after 9pm.

OP, what are your goals? Because then we’d be able to help more. Are you cutting, bulking, other?
