from everything ive read im under the impression fasted cardio is extremely catabolic though?
Catabolic is good as long as its not muscle. Catabolic in fat tissue good. And as long as you are not deep into an extended fast you will not be eating up muscle especially doing LISS fasted. That is mainly fat burning. And quite fun if you can catch a good show on TV or a good book to read
Or a book on tape. But JM mentioned to me that as long as I don’t let 12 hours between my dinner and breakfast pass I’m fine.

yea youre right. im reading kiefers book and he says that in the morning when cortisol is high and insulin is low, cortisol helps release FFA’s into the bloodstream to be burned. interesting.

i just read his backloading ebook and he states that HIIT is fine for fat loss actually.
to poster above ^ he says no backload if you arent resistance training that day and only doing cardio.
LOL. Maybe its just him personally that doesnt like it. Im sure the research supports its fat burning efficacy. Speaking purely personally again (Ryan will hate this) but if I had the time/energy or desire for an extra workout you better believe Id be lifting again, not running or doing any “energy systems work”. After all, my goal is still purely muscle and strength. Dont want to be a sprinter or a MMA fighter or anything like that.
Since Sioux has abandoned us Ill give you a brief update of what Im currently doing. Experimenting a bit more with food selection now. Still trying to budge a small amount of fat. Seems that my legs keep wanting to get leaner without an additional input from my waist. Bastards!
Deviating from my normal Backload of Rice, Pineapple, Skittle and Ice Cream. Last friday (Back training day) I had a couple Apple Struddles, 1/4 tub of Ice Cream and 5 slices of Pizza. This of course still included my normal 400-500grams of Chicken. Probably about the same amount of carbs all up, but definately a lot more fat in this. The Ice Cream added about 50g Fat, the Struddles about 30g and the Pizza? Well who knows but who cares? (; So Calories will be up on this, but Carbs about the same. Going to keep mixing things up and see how it goes. The extra fat certainly didnt seem to “wash me out” as I was as lean as normal if not a bit tighter the following morning.

i too am new to backloading, fresh off the AD, so im in the experimenting phase as well right now. i dont know if its just me, but if i dont eat enough carbs i look flat and shitty the next day, but leaner. if i eat a tonnnnnn of carbs, more than i wouldve in a month on the AD, i wake up looking lean, full, and bigger than usual.
this is all too new to me it feels like a dream LOL.
finally got around to adding up macros on CBL
3985 calories
159g fat
392g carbs
247g protein
ate like a fat kid. feel amazing.
fat was so high because i had a fatty lunch. id like to get it lower than 100g a day.
3 backload meals were:
1 poptart
1 scoop whey
6 slices cheese pizza
2 scoops whey
1 donut
2 bowls ice cream
1 ice cream sandwhich
1 bowl lucky charms
1 bowl fruit loops
1 bowl cocoa puffs
1.5 scoops whey
this must be what heaven feels like
EDIT: i wont be eating like this every backload by the way. will mostly be sticking with cleaner carbs like white rice and white potatoes.

Not recommended. Fat and Protein in 50:50 ratio’s by Gram during low carb portion of day and off days. You CAN try and limit Fat intake in your backload but Kiefer says most people that dont try to limit fat tend to do better. PWO the muscles need to refill triglyceride stores as well as glycogen.

MEAT! first backload meal with whey is fine but I would add some meat sources for protein in here for the other two.

Lol certainly not mad. I have no room to really add weight workouts and still make progress. Already do 6 a week. So LISS is really my only option that wont cut into recovery and actually adds to recovery.
Hope you keep us updated on your experiemnt will be updated on the long run what happens.

Certainly will. Tonight will be the chicken (a given) 1/4 tub of ice cream, cup of rice (uncooked measure), 1/3 pineapple and then later a Chocolate Croissant with my prebed Steak.
One of the best things for me with CBL, is the mass amount of carbs I can eat without putting on fat, allows me to lower my protein (use to get in at least 1.5g/BW, lowered in the 1-1.25g/BW range). For me, it’s been a good deal cheaper, and no where near as gassy/bloated.
how does an endormorpic former fat boy eat 4000 calories and 400g of carbs and wakeup bigger and leaner than a week ago on a keto diet.
this my friends is a riddle that will never be solved…
kiefer you mad scientist you…youre a genius.
although there is one flaw to eating a shit ton of ice cream and sugary cereals, the next day, gastrointestinal issues. nuff said.

It’s crazy how one’s body can adapt through time. I used to weigh in the 190-200 lb range in high school and early college. Now I compete at 135 lbs and follow a very similar protocol to CBL (250-500 g per day depending on the activity level). I don’t care how many skeptics there are out there, I’ve tried several diets in the past 5 years and the concepts of CBL work great for me.
