Carano vs. Cyborg

I got tickets so I am looking forward to it.
Not as excited for the rest of the fight card which I think has changed 20 times since I bought my tickets

Well I have only seen two of Gena’s fights and none of Cyborgs. From what i have seen, Gena is a true warrior. She not some chick who can fight, she’s a fighter. Her intensity and focus is unreal. Even on American Gladiator she would real F up the competitors because that’s what she does.

Does anyone have an in depth analysis of these two? I understand that Cyborg comes out swinging and Gena has a sweet jab. I will have to watch some utube videos tonight.

I really hope Gena wins and then has my babies!

Thanks for changing your Avatar Beast…Sorry I looked at your crotch:)

I like this predicton and analysis.

Why a Gina Carano vs. Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos prediction? To put things in perspective, Carano vs. Cyborg is the female MMA equivalent of the final battle between Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell. After all, many believed coming in that was the biggest MMA fight to ever take place. Well, Carano vs. Cyborg is no doubt the biggest fight in female MMA history.

So who’s going to win, the woman they call Conviction or the one they call Cyborg when they mix it up for the Strikeforce 145 pound title on August 15?

What Gina Carano brings to the table: Carano is an exceptional Muay Thai fighter who achieved a record of 12-1-1 in that sport before making the jump to MMA. Along with this, she possesses a diverse set of striking skills, utilizing punches, the clinch, and kicks from a distance to fell opponents. What’s more, her takedowns and takedown defense are solid, and her submission skills are improving. That said, we know a lot more about her stand up because that’s usually where her fights end up taking place.

Perhaps just as important, Carano has found herself in some back and forth tussles. In other words, she’s dealt with some adversity in the cage and come out on top, as her undefeated MMA record reinforces.

What Cris Santos brings to the table: Santos brings some excellent Muay Thai to this fight as well. Like most Chute Boxe fighters, she is very aggressive. To that end, she is also as explosive and athletic of a fighter as you’ll see in female MMA.

In terms of ground skills, even less is known about Santos than Carano. She definitely has solid takedowns and takedown defense. But she has never submitted an opponent and her only loss in MMA came by way of submission.

Of course, that was way back in 2005.

Gina Carano vs. Cris “Cyborg” Santos Strikeforce Prediction: This is as hard a fight to call as there is. The problem is that female MMA just doesn’t possess the level of competition that the men do as of yet, even if they are growing in leaps and bounds. Thus, we’ve never seen either of these fighters go up against another woman that’s in the same class of the one that they will be fighting on August 15. Further, there are some questions about the ground skills that both fighters possess (we haven’t seen Carano on the ground all that much, and all we know about Cyborg is what she can do from the top position). Finally, we know very little about how Santos will react in a tough fight; a fight that she doesn’t dominate from beginning to end.

On top of it all, this is going to be a five round war with each round lasting five minutes, which is uncharted territory for both competitors.

So here’s the first question: Can Carano withstand Cyborg’s frenetic early pace? Can she avoid getting stopped early by one of the more vicious female fighters on the planet? Well, one thing we know about Carano is she’s tough. Further, she’s a better Muay Thai fighter than those that Santos has mixed it up with before, and is quite strong. So we’ll guess yes.

If Carano is able to weather Cyborg’s early storm at the HP Pavilion, she may get the chance to implement her game plan. Xtreme Couture fighters tend to have excellent game plans for fights, and things should be no different for her. So don’t be surprised if after weathering an early storm, Carano begins to assert herself on her feet in spots and even utilizes her improving ground skills, looking for a takedown. When this fight gets into the late rounds, Cyborg may begin to feel the heat.

Gina Carano wins via unanimous decision.

Carano needs to find the same “doctor” as Santos to match the overwhelming strength advantage. Not taking anything away from Santos, she is a badass, im just sayin’.

I honestly can’t believe anyone thought that Carano would win.

What’s with the people who say things like “Well, I’ve never seen any of Cyborgs fights, but I think Gina is going to win cause she has heart?”

I also thought it was sad to hear so many boos for Cyborg.

Assuming the fight hadn’t already happened, this might have been a fair guess, except for the fact that if anything, getting into the later rounds would probably have benefited Cyborg, who has actually fought 5 minute rounds before, unlike Gina.

I also find it sad that a title match just happened, and now the only comments anyone has is about their looks. They’re fucking fighters, who gives a shit what they look like? Go watch the playboy channel instead next time.

There was definitely a strength advantage. Not going argue the root of that. I’ve never seen Gina thrown around like that…ever. BUT she was gassing more so than Cyborg. Maybe actually making weight is too rough on her…especially when facing someone like Cyborg. She was worn out…going another round would have been horrible.

I also noticed she was on her heels a lot. She respected Cyborg’s power…and rightfully so. She ate some hard shots. Gina is going to look like Stay-Puff marshallow man in a bit. That ref saved her from anal rape as well.

Wow, that sucked.
Gina, you’re still 10 times hotter, and I am just going to say what alot of people are thinking. Cyborg, the muscles, the deep voice, the three inch clitorus (ok, I made up the last one)…

i think there will eventually be some sort of “substance scandal” involving cyborg at some point.

Anyone else looking forward to Cyborg’s first MAXIM photoshoot like I am??

lol

any links to a replay?

That was pretty much Cyborg all the way. This being maybe the fifth female MMA fight I’ve watched, I have to say, these women can fight, their standup is decent, even good by MMA standards, but I have to say I was kind of shocked by the level of wrestling they displayed. Honestly, it was noticeably bad, Gina repeatedly gave up her back and pulled Cyborg into her half guard, Cyborg was given a body lock and landed on the bottom twice.

That said, both fighters showed good technique in both striking and the ground game, it was entertaining. I hope the standard of female MMA continues to improve, and the promotions continue to… promote it. We can hope…

Am I going to be abusing myself later to thoughts of Cyborg? No.

Cyborg has to be on the “juice” or was on the “juice” to get her size. I was looking at her neck after the fight and her neck puts most guys to shame.

Carano was intimidated from the get go. She needed to jab to keep her away and hope to land a punch that would knock out Cyborg. When Carano did jab it was very effective. But I think she was so intimidated of Cyborg that she stopped using it. Cyborg wins 10 out of 10 fights with Carano. I don’t think Carano has the will or heart to train to the level that is needed to beat Cyborg. Too bad, I hate to see her fade off. We can always hope for a Playoby spread!

I like how everyone is FINALLY convinced that Cyborg is on the juice after beating Carano. Not a crack at anyone…just an observation. Shit it’s very possible…but until it’s proven…

I’ll give 100,000 XBL points to the person who can find out if she has a vienna clit.

Dude, that won’t even buy me all the maps on Gear of War 2.

A neck a lot of long time wrestlers would be envious of.
