Back to posting. I finished nursing school about a week and a half ago and I am waiting to take the state board exam Aug 28th. The training has fluctuated between off-on and going well. Bench was modest gains, squat and deadlift were going well as far as rep PR’s. Haven’t really checked out the 1RMs.
I was cranking out the 5/3/1 up to May, before going on a planned trip to Disney, I wanted to see if I could hit some 20RM’s the day I was to deload, because I didn’t want to deload and then go on vacation. I think it burned me b/c upon returning from vacation, everything was heavy and gains stagnated.
Training was hit or miss this summer secondary to an internship and course work that went with it. I did some old style training for a while and an extended deload and reset my maxes. Hoping things get back on track. I have a total of around ten cycles of 5/3/1 under my belt.
A1 Flipping Bench so it is 3x3, 3x5 for prescribed reps, 5/3/1, deload.

I’m trying to start doing a set of chins between pushing sets. I started my training with a set of chins, then chinned between the warm up sets for militaries. I stopped for the three working sets then I picked up again. Was planning on one high rep set each of tri push-down and hammer curl, but was on a time crunch.
Missed the “l” in DB military, oh well.
My wife really wants to lose weight so I am trying to join her. Mostly from Dave Tate’s “21 days to fat loss”. I’m cutting down refined carbs working my way down to eliminating them. I’ve replaced lunch with a met-rx shake and cut out snacks. If I do snack it is shredded wheat and bran. As hard as it may be I’m cutting my beer volume in half lol.
We’ll see how this goes.

When my wife was preggo she got soooo mad at me for drinking beer when she couldn’t. The upside of her pregnancy was that she was anemic, so her OB ordered her to increase her iron intake. Well it was the summer, so one day I would grill burgers, the next day steaks. The downside, the house was always stocked with Yodels.
