Is there any chance of flat rate shipping to Australia any time soon?

The order i’m about to place for my brother and I will have a shipping cost of $178 USD or $193 AUD, its a tad exccessive!

Some help on the shipping costs would have alot more of the Aussies on here buying more products.

Received an ordrer today

I had the 25$ flat rate fee for the shipping + had to pay 38$ at the door (order of about 210$)

That’s $63 to ship a $210 order - 30% of the order cost… A bit excessive…

I’d really like my US Postal Service option back, or at least make a deal with Fedex (if you want to use them as your preferred shipper) to include their brokerage fees in that flat-rate cost…

This is why I wouldn’t place a small order. I figure you are better off saving up and placing an order for $500 or more (ideally you order with a friend or something). I also disregard the taxes since I’d pay them anyway at a store.

Lot’s of people just lump any charges in with “duties” and it makes it seem unreasonable. I don’t know what Zraw has included in his $38 “at the door”, but if it includes sales taxes then that accounts for ~$25-30 (I forget what the QST is at the moment) which you would pay at a retailer, so now the brokerage fee is down to ~$10. Now that’s still ~$35 for shipping. Personally I like to keep shipping costs under 10% by using the larger/less frequent orders.

EDIT: Mindfreaks post wasn’t showing up when I submitted this. Thanks for running the numbers.

I too just got my order and can confirm that the FedEx Brokerage fee is just $10…

so finally you didnt get the 40$ duty fee but Zraw had it?

didn’t know how many CDN’s were here? Who’s representing steel city here? Can’t believe the one guy goes to MCMASTER uni.

What’s wrong with Mac?

yeah I have a 40$ ‘‘duty right’’ fee
it’s not 25$ flat rate it’s 65$

I’m at University of Waterloo =]
Collaborate orders?

so basically like 35 bucks?

Really wish I saw this before I placed my order. Got charged an extra $14 at the door for something I thought I already paid for =.=

And it’s a small order to begin with, so it makes a pretty big impact. Something listed as $69 American ended up costing me $118 Canadian in the end. I was only barely saving money over shopping at a local GNC, but with this, I ended up paying more in the end.

I don’t mind paying the rates. Any of you have a sister you could hook me up with so I can move there permantely?

You don’t mind paying the rates??? what? Okay well send a 25 bucks my way every time you order, you know, since you don’t mind.

Yeah, whats wrong with McMaster? It’s the least sketchy part of Hamilton.

If anyone goes to Mac, or lives in the area, I’d be interested in doing a batch order.

Locals should do batch orders, get like several thousand dollars of stuff in one go, make the additional costs negligible.

Well now, this is a small world.

Check your PMs, fellow Mac engineer.

Just made 475$ usd order after 25$ shipping rate paid 35$ at door for taxes/duty (10$ fedex fee included).

Nice. I’m about to make a comparable order to Hamilton; I’ll update here so we know basically what the average extra fees will be.

35cnd$ btw if that’s any help

Has anyone thought about getting a PO box in the US?..A friend of mine has one in Port Huron and I think it costs him around $100 US/year. He goes over every month or so to shop and pick up stuff his in-laws order for their small flea market business. Never gets hasseled. Lucky? perhaps.

The po box place charges him ten bucks for service charge on oversized pakages. He only has a mail slot. If people split on the fee/year it might be worth looking into.

I’m also a McMaster grad.
I’ve used http://www.cbiusa.com/ in the past and have had no complaints. They receive parcels and charge a fee on pick up with no obligations or annual costs. They’re about 30seconds into Niagara Falls, NY and it costs about $7 to pick up your order. Half the time customs doesn’t charge me anything when I declare it. So your only costs are the pick up costs, the bridge fare ($3) and the associated gas costs of getting there.
