Can you identify the men in these ads?

The next video I do will be “Elbows, EZ Curls, and Overheads.” I’m trying to identify two of the men in these ads.

From Mr. America, March 1967

Strength & Health, November 1965:

the next is John Grimek, Muscular Development Sept 1967:

I don’t know this guy either: Muscle Builder/Power 1972

1972?

Are you being sarcastic?

It’s the Darden forum. He may be senile.

It must be Dr D’s forum, since you’re a drop-in troll with nothing to contribute.

  1. Based on mid-section, could be Don Howorth (too small to be Don?), or the Iron Guru himself, Vinnie G
  2. Jim Haislop?
  3. My first thought was Bill Pearl, but based on the apparent age, I guess it is Grimek.

In reverse order, obviously Arnold, then Grimek. The first and second are tough. Someone else also guessed Howorth, but I’ve never seen a picture of him smiling so I can’t match it. Another guess is Larry Powers, so I have to research his pictures at the time. Haislop and Gironda are interesting choices, I have to check.

the third is a complete mystery.

Well outside of my area of expertise but could number 3 be Larry Scott?

Third looks like Al Murray, National and Olympic coach in 50’s-60’s. I don’t know if he worked for Bob Hoffman.

First one I thought of Reg Park, because he was one of the few bodybuilders that smiled for the camera when lifting. Howland is possible, shape is right. Probably not Gironda cause he would never let anyone take a picture of him with abs looking like that.

Al Murray is an interesting choice. I have Modern Weight Training by him (1963), i’ll have to see if there are any pics of him as a young man.

Reg Park with smile, another good choice.

Wow on #3, you barely even see arms like that these days. Awesome!

Is #1 a young Frank Zane?
