im flying over you

its mine, its mine, its mine
I, like you, have alot of trouble with math. My problem is I screw up the basic arithmetic, probably due to my sloppy handwriting.
I don’t know if this has been said, but every time you see the negative sign like this.
-1 - 7
you can change the negative signs to positive signs to make it clearer.
-1 + (-7)
-4(2x - 4) can be written as
-4(2x + -4)
also, say you have -1 - (-7)
that can be changed to -1 + (+7) or just
-1 + 7.
you just have to reverse all signs when you do it.
word, that helps, thanks.
Oh well. you ought to be thankful that until non-associative skew fields, algebra doesn’t really get hard.

If you never heard of “BEDMAS”, it can help you out with these questions when it comes to simplifying.
B - brackets
E - exponents
D - division
M - multiplication
A - addition
S - subtraction
So you start with brackets first then work your way down the list until everything is simplified.
It sounds like you don’t understand the objective of the problem. So here’s a general strategy for these types of questions:
-
use BEDMAS to simplify the expression. Basically you want to get rid of the brackets like you did first, which is good. Just pay attention to your negative signs.
-
Collect “like terms” and simplify. 35 and -9 can be simplified, same with the x’s.
-
Now, depending on the question, you need to solve for x. In this case, your end result is to “isolate” the x term. Get x by itself, basically. It will probably be a fraction.
-
Verify your answer for x by plugging it into the original equation:
7(5 - 6x) - 5(9 + 8x) = 15x - 9
LHS = RHS
If everything is ok, then the left hand side should equal the right hand side.
So in your head just always remind yourself something along the lines of: bedmas, simplify, like terms, isolate, verify.
Hope that helps

Same as PEMDAS
Remembered as Please Excuse My Dead Aunt Sally
P = paranethesis (sp?)
E = Exponents
M= multiply
D = divide
A = Add
S = subtraction
Damn, I would have never thought the day we talk algebra, if that is what it is, on T-Nation would come.
I am scared.
Shit, I thought this was for HS…
Try getting help from your teacher. Teachers really are an invaluable resource.

Lmao. I love the “see me”. I wonder if the teacher actually planned a speech in response…
Come on Live, the only formula that matters is:
Sweet Blue Jeans > Mama’s AC
its actually less than or equal to. dummy.

(Sweet Blue Jeans) > (Mama’s AC) / (New Soulja Boy CD)
X (Porn Career)
Closer?
I’m a senior and were doing this stuff… I’m bored all through class its so easy yet everything messes it up.

I pretty much said that on the first page. I just never put any examples.
i actually kinda figured it out.
i was just making a mistake with the multiplier outside the brackets or seomthing like that. i dont really remember what it was exactly and i dont want to cause i dont wanna remember it and end up doing it agian lol.
i think half the time i do this stuff im too tired to really focused. like i end up writing down reandom numbers too sometimes which really hurts.
solving variables is pretty down packed now, i think. but im still gonna practice it.
we should be getting into graphing soon and thats not bad at all, just pick something for x,y then something for y,x and draw a line.

Graphing is fun, you can always just play boxes with the person sitting next to you, and say “I think I fucked this up somewhere” when the teacher walks by and asks what your doing.
alright can someone explain to me what this means: “find the measure of an angle whose supplement measures 5 times it measure.”
im sorry guys but we’ve never gone over this in class and we have a test due on the 11th. so im trying to get a head start on it.
also i got this other problem and i wasnt sure how to do it so i took a guess, tell if i what i did was right…
it said find the measure of each marked angle and it just had an angle over a line and the 2 angles were (14x+3) and (11x+2) so i just added everything together and got 25x + 5 = 180 i assumed that angle is 180 and then subtracted 5 off 180 to get 25x=175 so x=7 then i just plugged in the number to find the measurements of the angles.
