Can someone tell me what the T levls are… like t3, t4, and do they get affected while taking steroids?
t-3 and t-4 are thyroid hormones that primarily control metabolism they are not testosterone. While on anabolic steroids levels of t-3 and t-4 may increase due to the extra feeding usually accompanied by a steroid cycle but their is no direct correlation between AS and thyroid hormone.

T=Thyroid. No, no effects from gear…
J: Nope…not an idiot…this endocrine stuff is absolutely fascinating to me. But it can be confusing.I hope that I’m reading your question correctly.
As a basic Thyroid “Primer”, I would refer you to Tim Patterson’s “Behing The Scenes” in Isssue 173 for all the biochemistry and physiology. The bottom line is that for us muscleheads, Thyroid Hormones (and/or their analogs) have some very important functions: 1) An increase in our Basal Metabolic Rate and Heat Production 2) Increase in fat mobilzation 3) Increase in Carbohydrate metabolism and 4) They are central to both growth and development, especially during childhood.
In terms of levels, that is VERY dependent on a persons age and the assay that is used to measure the hormones. The most important thing to know about your thyroid hormone (and thyroid stimulating hormone or TSH) is whether they are HIGH or LOW based on the given reference range.
In relation to your last question, it does appear that Anabolic Steroids DO decrease both TSH and Thyroid Hormone levels.
AHHhhh…some controversy! I guess we need Bill to chime in on this one. Have Anabolic Steroids been shown to affect Thyroid Hormone and TSH levels? My LIMITED source says “YES”…however…this is a site for information…not MIS-information…
While low T3 may be correlated with low T,
so far as I know there’s no indication that supraphysiolical T (or other androgens e.g. fluoxymesterone) affects T3 levels. If anyone has contrary data I’d be interested, but the few studies I’ve seen on this that seemed relevant, that I recall anyway, didn’t find anything.
