No info on Skylink, guys?
I don’t want to go to a “mustang forum” because I already know they are biased as all hell.

Damn I thought the picture attached. So if it double posts oh well. Pretty car.

I actually see more BMW’s and Mercedes around town than anything else. I also see a lot of (circa 90’s early 00’s) Mustangs but not too many newer models. I see very few 2010’s and of course no 2011’s right now.
If it comes down to look, I think the above car is more “me” than anything else.

I understand about not following the crowd, however the fiscal side of me will never go with an american sports car. My wife has BMW X5 and this is her second BMW, nothing beats there service plan and quality of car. I have had some Doc friends in the past swear by the Porche as the best “driving” experience for a car. Also BMW has an onstar type package.
The Porsche is like twice the price of both the new camaro and the mustang…and it really comes down to style. I don’t see too many BMW’s that make me want the car based on looks.
I do hear what you say about foreign cars and you may be right.
Do guys with Mustangs have a lot of problems with their cars?
Panties will melt. Do you plan on paying it off and keeping for ever? Who has a better quality product?
That looks cool. What model is that?
yeah, any car I get next I would like to hold onto and modify long term…which is why I want this next one to be the right decision…and also why I haven’t been looking at used.
I take back what I said about you ending up in a Camaro. The more you post, the more it becomes clear that regardless of option A,B,C your heart is in the Mustang, and the retro style is as close to the '67 as you’re going to get without actually buying a '67.
If the OnStar option isn’t a showstopper, then do the Mustang.
If you end up in that Camaro, you’re going to be driving around thinking about the Mustang and “yeah, but I have OnStar” is going to get old. You’re going to be washing that Camaro thinking about the Mustang. As posted, Ford might have a similar service to OnStar (maybe not quite as good) and for the time being you can go with alternate security features for the insurance and other ‘soft’ options.
I want a Ford F-150 FX4. I’ve been wanting one for several years now and have passed up several good deals on Nissan and other Ford pickups because I’m holding out for this pickup.
Teh chicks don’t give a rat fuck between “Camaro” and “Mustang”. They’re “a sports car” in their eyes. (Now maybe a Corvette or Viper might take it to a new level). But let’s be honest-- we’re appeasing Professor X’s desires here.
Follow your heart on this one. You’ve wanted and waited and worked hard for the physique you’ve wanted. You wanted and waited and worked hard for your title of “Doctor Professor X”, ditto your house.
Why the fuck not your car?
You almost died, bitch! You want to be saying to yourself “Self, I never had that Mustang I’ve ALWAYS wanted!”
DO IT!
PS: I checked out the Ford site-- The “Boss” package looks freakin’ awesome:

LOL.
Much love, brother for that post.
This is still a good discussion though because they are mentioning shit I may not have thought of.

Oh shit…it has my name on the back seat.

Z4 2011 BMW roadster or you could go with the new Mercedes sls.

My 9 year old has a big SLS poster on his wall. Bad ass.
Prof X the new CTS-V coupe is more money but outrageously fast, has OnStar and it’s interior has an auto-panty removal option unlike the Camaro / Mustang. Steely is right, girls could give a shit about either one of them.
The standard CTS is probably a more sensible choice. You give up about 250hp (still get 300) but save yourself 20k, better running economy, lower insurance etc. But you get OnStar and women without panties.
If you really wanted to make your mustang unique, you could get a roush kit for it.

Boss Mustang is a wicked choice. Dude near my house has one and I see it in the parking lot all the time. That thing has a wicked aura too it, and he always parks it beside a Z06 Corvette too.

You wrote a good post…and that is what I wanted…open discussion about these two cars. I really didn’t want to frame it around what I want which is why I left that out originally.
You’re right, practicality is not the deciding factor. Gas Mileage, STYLE, handling, theft prevention, and price are. I also know that many of you know more about cars than me so I am open to what you guys are writing.
The bottom line is, I didn’t plan to be buying a car right now…but life changed that…so I want my next one to really be “MY car”…and not just the one I get because my friends think it is the best or my family thinks it is the most “practical”.
Let me make this more clear…I want women to walk into my house and experience complete, almost supernatural, expulsion of their panties.
I want my car to have that effect as well.
X, you can’t put gas mileage first on your list when you’re talking about these two cars. Either way you’re feeding a thirsty V8. If your heart’s in the Mustang, then you gotta go for the Mustang.
I didn’t want to drag this thread off topic, but I must agree with the recommendation on the CTS-V coupe. This car is superior in every way to the Camaro and the Mustang. It has all the power of the two you are looking at with styling that trumps the Germans most respects. If money were no object, I would buy this car…twice. You put a lady in a Boss Mustang and she’ll see it like any other sports car. You put her in this top-line Caddy and she’ll notice the difference immediately.
The 2011 Mustang 5.0 walks all over it’s competitors and even cars that are twice the price.
I can’t believe that this wasn’t posted yet:

Have you considered a used Porsche (996 '01-'06) 911 turbo they are going for $35-$45k depending on options and miles.

Oh, that was great!
Are speed, power, or 1/4 mile times really even a debate here? You ride a liter bike, right? You’re not going to come close to matching the acceleration you have on your bike with a production car. Personally, I’ve always been a Camaro guy, but it sounds like you need a pony, if handling and looks would trump onstar.
It’s probably a little premature to seriously discuss reliability and service issues, so unless you get an outlier that needs to be in the shop every other week or the opposite that never has a problem, there probably won’t be much disparity between your choices. My wife’s parents had Porsches and BMWs from the '80’s till the about '05, and they were nice, if you had them serviced regularly. Otherwise, they were destined for the shop. I think you should go Mustang.

Me too at this point. Ford also has Sync for GPS…plus adding GPS shouldn’t be that hard after I get the car. I also want bigger wheels because I think that will solve the low clearance issues.
Mustang. For 2011 Its faster in a straight line, has better looks and out handles and out brakes the competition.
I don’t know why people on here have been knocking the handling. According to a motor trend review it runs even lap times with an M3. How they manage to pull that off with a live axle I have no idea. So no, I would bet the mustang could even take an wrx on the track for the idiot that brought it up.
If the choice is only between the two then I would take the Mustang. It is a better driver’s car.

I doubt most here have actually driven the new one. It is the most fun ride between that and the Camaro. The Camaro seems real sluggish and heavy to me…which is basically what that pro driver in the previous link stated. You’re right, for real speed, I have my bike. I want style and great handling in a car.
