Cal's Big Log II: The Revenge

nice work pom!

Nice job finishing the race… Good work!

Yeah, it happens. The “six mile” cross country race I did a month or two ago was short - by about a mile, I think. I know my Clapham Common 10Ks are about right, though, and they have the same course all year so you know if you’ve done better or worse than last time. The main thing is I ran a long way in a nice setting and raised some money (up to £330 now - had a couple of late donations), so it’s all good.

I have ART on Tuesday. Going to need it!

That will help speed up recovery a lot. The $ are a nice touch, always good to know getting involved with something like that, with like minded people and having a good time also helps others in need

Congrats Cal! You done good woman.

Dried fruit and nuts are my kryptonite! I feel ya.

So just a question…what did you end up doing with your coat?

I left it under a tree. I took an old one and wore a bum bag with my keys, travelcard, a debit card and a couple of quid in it. If the coat had been stolen I wouldn’t have lost anything but I would have been very cold going home.

Very quick gym visit today:

Chins:
2 (and a bit), 2, 2, 1 (and a bit)

Military press:
Bar x 10, 25kg x 10, 30kg x 8 (+1), 32.5kg x 6 (+1), 35kg x 3

Felt strong. I guess that’s down to the food, huh?

Negative pull-ups:
3 x 3

That was it. Still recovering from the run and was hungry.

Weight: 10 stone 12. (-1lb) I don’t think I lost any fat since Saturday - just went to the bathroom more.

have you tried this? look out for the loud bitch that pops up in the corner…mute!!!

Never heard of that before - it doesn’t seem widespread in the UK. Do you know anyone who’s tried it? From what I can see just by Googling it, it seems a bit hit or miss.
I have had lower back issues (from squatting) but my sciatica stems primarily from piriformis syndrome and I get ART for that (going tomorrow, in fact). After that 15K, I know it’ll hurt like a bitch too. But I need it, I think.

no…dont know anyone whos tried it. looks like you could build that contraption though…maybe it would be good for you to hang up side down a bit too

MPS look strong.

Cal, awesome run! I’m very proud of you for working through the hassles and the aches to get it done with style. It was very smart to eat up prior to the run, and yeah the food helped the gym situation. Folks tell me that here all the damn time.

cause it’s the truth, as Brute would put it, “WORD”

lol.

glad you ate, pooped, and ran.

stop calling me awesome when you run miles upon miles with a literal pain in your ass.

OMG! Asterix and Obelix! I have tons of their books, used to read them as a child. Also Tin Tin. Lol. My parents are total Euro wannabees…well, my dad is at least - he lives in France now…daddy?

Those MPs are strong! And good work on the pullups.

Who doesn’t love “dropping weight”. Lol!

No gym yesterday but I went for ART and a neck crack. Felt much better after that. I like my therapist, Nicole - she does Ironmans and could probably crush walnuts in her fist.
School for the rest of the week. I’m now at the part of the term where I have to start writing reports, which is a new thing for me. I have to think quite hard to remember who most of the girls are, but fortunatley I don’t have to write a huge amount.

Cal, I missed your post in my log earlier. Glad you got cracked and are feeliing better. Uggh on report writing. How many students do you have?

I went and got cracked last week & it made me feel so much better… I finally have convinced myself to calender my chiro & massage therapist every 3 months and if I need it more than that than cool but at least I am going in kind of regular this way. I just feel so much better when I get those things taken care of

I’ve been seeing my ART/chiro girl for soft tissue work and a back crack every two weeks since the spring. Honestly, I credit this for a relatively injury free year.

I wish I could afford to go every two weeks, but once a month is about all I can manage at £50 for half an hour.

First of all I’m going to say that report writing is pretty time consuming so apologies for not reading the other logs - I’ll catch up in time but right now I need to focus.

Secondly I’d like to say that I’m really glad my run was last week, because we’ve now entered a cold snap and it’s fucking freezing. No snow in London yet, but temperatures are dipping below zero (C) and it’s quite bitter. Yesterday I gave my year 6 (age 10-11) girls the choice of playing netball outside or gymnastics inside and they chose netball, then proceeded to moan about how much their hands hurt because it was cold. We’ll see if they want to do it again next week.

Today is Saturday so I hit the gym.

Chins: 3, 2, 2, 2, 2
(Pleased with the 3 reps).

Military Press: Bar x 10, 25kg x 10, 30kg x 9 (+2 - fuck yeah), 32.5kg x 5

Rack Pulls (I lowered the pins a notch): Bar x 10, 60kg x 10 (+5 - for the hell of it), 70kg x 5, 80kg x 5, 90kg x 1.
90kg felt rather heavy. I didn’t go for more because my form wasn’t as good. Need to put back health before ego.

Negative pull-ups: 4 x 3

Then a lot of stretching. I did a bit of bridge work, handstand against the wall (not vertical yet - my hands are bout 18 inches away), a lot of stretching - and that’s it.

Weight: 10 st 11 (151lbs). Down another pound although I’ve not actually been dieting this past week, to be honest. I do IF on Weds and Thurs mind you. (I only eat in the evening once I get back from school).

HAHA! I still love how you can’t really remember the kids names. When I was little I would always play “teacher” and would endlessly correct papers and make report cards. So much fun - “Can be a bit defiant, but a spectacular tumbler”

Anyways, nice training! Good work on the chins m’lady and hell yeah on the MP PR! Strong Rack Pulls too!

And congrats on the fat loss! ugh! I’m all full of tons of carbs and such. Can’t wait for my body to return to normal.
