Oh don’t worry, I’ll be logging. I may not have as much time to visit everyone else’s logs, is all.
hmm. my flatmate taped along the back of his achilles with electrical tape and said he found some relief from tendonitus. taped it with the foot in a slightly dorsiflexed position… or maybe it was plantarflexed… can’t remember :-/ i’ve been wondering about k-taping myself… where did you figure how to tape it??
MiM posted a video on the last (or second to last page). Your flatmate is right.
Good luck during your busy time, cal!
Guess what? I am sick again. I noticed I was sneezing a lot yesterday and thought, “no, can’t be. Not again!” but here I am feeling grotty. No sore throat this time but my nose is watery and I feel crappy. Bloody hell! And on top of that, looks like I’m having another long period. It’s not remotely heavy - it’s just like the last day of a normal period so it doesn’t impact me much but it won’t fucking stop. My immune system must be really down the crapper.
On the plus side, another pound down at 10 stone 12 (152lbs) despite the fact my chocolate tasting selection arrived yesterday and I went through it like a fat man at a Vegas buffet. I allow myself this indulgence once every couple of months so it’s no biggy so long as I stick to the plan the rest of the time. What’s bad is if I have one self-indulgent day and then carry on. That’s when the weight piles back on.
Anyway, I did haul myself to the gym for a slow workout. Since I’m not feeling great I took plenty of rest between sets and didn’t attempt any cardio, but I did a bit for chest and back.
Bench:
Bar x 10
30kg x 10
40kg x 10
45kg x 10
50kg x 10
3 x 55kg x 5
(55kg = 121lbs)
Superset:
T Bar Rows (wide grip): 20kg x 10, 22.5kg x 10, 25kg x 10
Decline push-ups (feet on T-bar): 10, 10, 10
Body Rows (done from locked Smith machine bar, legs bent, feet on floor):
3 x 10
Krock Rows:
28kg x 10 per arm
Straight Arm Pulldown:
20kg x 15
I was going to do close grip pulldowns but after two reps I realised my shoulder was unhappy so I stopped.
Did a few handstands but I was greying out a bit so I headed out to do my grocery shopping.
I’m now in the throes of report writing so this isn’t going to be a fun weekend for me. As I’ve said, next few weeks will be tough as I’m working extra days (for no extra money!) and won’t have much time for training, but I’ll do as much as I can and try not to inhale a lot of high calorie foods.
Fucking sick again?! Children are pestilent! Are you taking anything to boast immune health?
You say you’ve been off at the gym, but your training is looking great! Nice work.
And the fact that you turned down chocolate? Kudos to you! I hate having to say no…but anyways, one piece of chocolate isn’t worth it, if you ask me. Its like playing “just the tip,” you always want more, even if its against your better interest. Give me everything, or give me nothing!
Another pound down!! Way to go!
Just keep your head above water Cal.
iron will resisting the chocolate.
Craptasticular on the sick again. damn bad timing for you.
I felt pretty craptastic last night - I was quite shivery so I hit the bed early. But I felt a bit better (if not fantastic) when I woke up. Three pints of tea, 100mg caffeine and some ephedrine later, I was ready for circuits, and I got through it OK.
I’m encouraged that I am starting to lean out slightly. I tend to lean out around the upper abs and shoulders first and this is starting to happen. I may even have some baby abs in time for California, so long as I don’t suffer any setbacks (or sabotage myself).
well thats good news at least.
I seem to be doing nothing but maintaining my flab ![]()
Give your meds time to kick in. Besides, that picture you just posted definitely shows progress!
Didn’t go to the gym today as I was too busy but I’ve started some eccentric calf exercises for rehabbing my achilles. It felt great until I left the house to teach the after school club, suffered major delays on the tube and then had to jog to the school from the station (I was still 20 mins late but they were understanding, thankfully). That really made it bitch and moan.
I tried Runners World forums and a physio suggested it was tendonosis and someone else suggested the exercises. So I’m doing 'em.
Anyway, my cold seems to have almost gone, so I guess my little soldiers were well drilled enough to defeat the enemy quickly. Now all I need is to stay healthy for a few weeks.
As far as this log goes, I’ll continue posting until I decide whether to join the exodus. I’m here more for the people than the site itself and whilst I’ve appreciated having somewhere to log, it’s rather sad when so many lovely ladies aren’t here to provide feedback (sensible or silly!) It is nice to see so many of you on Facebook, at least!
I am always hopeful that you’ll find the answer to the achilles issue. Glad you are feeling improved!
Glad you’re feeling better. Spring time germs must not be as resilient as the winter ones?
When do you get in to see that doctor, was it April?
Good stuff Cal. I hate working out sick! You are a better woman than I. Keep kicking ass ![]()
