Cal's Big Log 3D - Attack of the Giant Arse

On the plus side, the new Vibrams arrived. Christ, they’re tight! They’re the same size - it’s just the others have stretched out a bit. Getting them on is tricky (my left foot is right but right pinky toe doesn’t want to cooperate). It’s also apparent the others have faded a bit since I bought them - these are super bright.

I think my next pair will be Classics or Sprints - something I can walk around in when I’m on holiday. Am I right in thinking I need to go a size up from the enclosed models?

Glad that you had fun, but sorry about the sick thing.

I found that the classics and sprints fit TOTALLY DIFFERENT than your Bikilas. Way tighter, smaller toe pockets and overall hugely uncomfortable. Were those the first toe-shoes I tried (they weren’t…I only tried them on after loving and buying my Komodosports) I would have given up on them right then.

Definitely shop for them while in CA so that you can try all the models on.

I’m still sick. I really wanted to do circuit training today but I think it’d finish me off. It’s not like a conventional cold - I just feel crappy, my neck aches and if I try to exert myself I get breathless and exhausted. It sucks. I know it will pass but it’s pissing me off. Yesterday I kept carbs low (only carbs I had were raw carrots, and the non-fat milk I put in my tea) because I don’t want to blob out because I’m sedentary. The temptation to comfort eat is enormous but I don’t have any naughty foods in my flat.

I am going to the movies today - I daresay travelling on the tube and sitting in a cinema won’t exert me too much. But gah, I really wanted to get some hard training in on my time off. Buggeration.

So I went to see Tintin with my friend Andy (another coaster geek) and it was very good - blown away by the animation. Lots of action too. Very enjoyable.

While we were getting some coffee afterwards we saw a guy at the counter with a metal pyramid on his head. This being London, no one actually said anything to him. Got to love Londoners, we’re so bloody polite when it comes to loons. I was curious about him, though, so I Googled head pyramids when I got home and apparently this guy has been spotted in the vicinity with his pyramid hat. Obviously a local eccentric!

It is what it is doll.
sorry you’re sick its the worst… I always turn into a spoiled child… please read that as ridiculous BABY when I’m sick or injured. Just want taken care of. I think taking it easy is the abso best thing for you. You rest gorl!

I don’t know the pyramid hat looks kind of fashionable. One could easily make accessories for it.

Yes go and rest, you’ll live to fight another day.

Well I got fed up of resting. I did hit the gym today but with the purpose of mobilising myself and getting some blood into the muscles. I have been turning into a chair-shaped person - even got a cramp in my calf walking to the tube yesterday. That has never happened before!

Anyway, I took it pretty easy because I’m still not feeling great. Did some hypers/reverse hypers and clams then my usual shoulder warm-up. Also some rolling using a medicine ball (since there are no foam rollers at the gym.

Military Press:

2 x Bar x 10
25kg x 10 (this felt like an effort!)
3 x 30kg x 5

Floor Press with Leg Raise: 40kg x 10

(Basically you do a floor press, then raise your legs to the bar, lower, rinse, repeat.
Getting under a 40kg barbell is no mean feat. I was a little squished. Good news is that floor presses do not bother my shoulder, so I think I will be adding them into my programme.

Sumo Deadlift: 40kg x 10

(I had the bar loaded, so just did a few sumos for the hell of it. They bothered my right knee though).

T-Bar Row (barbell grip): 20kg x 10

Push-ups x 10

T-Bar Row (parallel grip): 20kg x 10

Narrow grip pulldown: 40kg x 10

Straight arm pulldown: 15kg x 10

Rear delt raises: 6kg x 10

Swiss Ball leg raise x 10

Also did a little handstand practise but had to rest a little between attempts to keep heart rate down and stuff. I can’t train with any intensity right now - I hope this passes soon because I want to get back at it.

On the plus side, weight is down to 10 stone 11 (151lbs/68.5kg)

glad your at least feeling better!

Way to get into the gym, and woohoo sickness induced weight loss! There are days I’m feeling exceptionally chunky that I just wish for some flu action to take off a few quick lbs

yeah that looks like a legit workout to me!

Thats taking it easy? well then.

Ha well, yes, fewer sets and lower weights. No supersetting. I may attempt to train legs tomorrow but I’ll see how it goes. I won’t be aiming anywhere near my max. Squats take a lot out of me so I’ll play it by ear, so to speak. I have a bit of a scratchy throat and have been sneezing a bit so this virus is far from done.

My thoughts exactly!

I always like your workouts, Cal. I think you get in a lot and you do it efficiently. I could take a cue from you.

Rest up!

Getting in the gym and doing what you can is a worthy accomplishment. Being sick with a virus is so damned annoying. I hope by tomorrow you are feeling more yourself.

I didn’t go to the gym. I’m still not feeling great and it was cold and damp outside and ugh, I didn’t want to go out. But I have been doing pull-ups (assisted, of course) and a few other bits and bobs when I go to make tea and such like.

School tomorrow. Then hopefully I will be fit for the weekend.

I always imagine London as sort of grey and foggy and drizzly 365 days a year LOL. I’m sure that can’t be right! I mean, there’s some sunny days in Mary Poppins. Still, the way I picture London plus a lingering cold I would be all hybernation all the time.

You rest up! Get well.

Heh, actually it’s been a very warm and sunny autumn (even got up into the 70s last month at one point). Today is drizzly but rest of the week is meant to be mild with sunny spells. Makes my job more pleasant if that’s the case.

Having said that, summer was a bit shit!

Cal, sorry to read you’re still not feeling well. Damn those snotty kids!

Well, after two weeks off and on just feeling like crap, it has finally turned into a proper cold with snot and stuff. It’s not really bad, actually - hopefully this means my body is now dealing with it.
Still have to go to school today though.

UGH! Sorry for you :frowning:
Let us assume this signals the end of the half cold and you will be fully recovered shortly.

Yeah, I feel a bit better today (fortunately the snot was really just this morning and very minimal) although very tired. Apparently most of the other teachers have been down with the same thing! Bleh.
