I’ve decided to see how ripped I can get. My plan is to go on a low carb diet and get 1g Protein per pound of bodyweight, while on Meltdown Training. My question is, how low should my calories be? Using the Massive Eating part 1 article, I calculated maintenance on a workout day to be about 4200 calories. Would I lose fat if I ate 3000? 2000? I think I am at about 9 or 10 percent bodyfat, weigh about 163, and want to lose as much fat as I can during the course of Meltdown Training. Thanks in advance for all your help.
bump.
Number of calories will depend on a number of factors including activity level, LBM, how fast you want to lose the weight, how musch muscle you’re willing to dump in the process, etc.
Calories can be a very individual thing. Two schools of thought here…first, you can use the old standard of 10-12x bodyweight. Second, use Berardi’s “Don’t Diet” protocols, which if memory serves correctly is the Massive Eating protocol with the excercise expenditure left out, multiplied by .85. Weight won’t drop as quickly with this calorie level, but you should maintain more LBM and feel better. Good luck!
