yeah that’s pretty cheap. You could try the Quark cheese, they’ve got it at Morrisons in 250g tubs at about 50p. It tastes OK especially if you want a break from cottage cheese for a while.
Where’s the cheapest place in the UK to get Metabolic Drive? I’ve bought it off other sites at ?30 for a 2 lb tub. I think you can get Classic Grow a bit cheaper.
American who’s been in grad school in England for about a year and a half now, the lack of cheap Biotest stuff here is a real drag. I usually order online from MyProtein, after buying Met-RX and other mediocre brands from GNC for awhile. I bring back Biotest stuff with me from the U.S. when I make it home every few months, but can never bring enough, so just use the Grow! before bed with flax and olive oils. Kills me though, the stuff tastes so much better than what I buy over here. I’d pay 25-30 pounds a tub for Metabolic Drive in the UK if I could.

i use Surge, Metabolic Drive, ZMA. i purchased straight from this site and have been impressed with all the products so far and will be buying again. i’d advise anyone to buy direct off this site, it works out a ton cheaper than buying from a 3rd party on our soil.
I’d have to dispute that. On here, Surge is what, $20? I buy it in bulk from a certain uk-based online retailer and it works out to about ?13.50/?14.00 so there’s very little difference. Get in 2-3 working days as well. But wherever you get it from, use it! That stuff is unique in its efficacy.
Which online retailer are we talking about?
pm me if you don’t want to post it please.[/quote]
I don’t buy into the cost of import and taxes and stuff, the people selling stuff from US manufacturers over here are trying to rip us off.
The UK is the cheapest in Europe for white goods, clothes, food and other electrical things, hardware and all otehr manner of items. The term rip off Britain only applies in two main instances, first the price of Petrol and 2nd when firms like Fender and the importers of other US made products are ripping people off.
From what I can see no matter how good Biotest stuff is, its not going to be popular when there are other makers selling stuff cheaper, even is its not as good or anything like it.
I know what import duty is because I worked in purchasing briefly and we bought stuff from all over the world. Someone is using this as an almighty excuse to jack the price up.
Its like EAS stuff when it first came over here, absolutely ridiculous, it was not long before they had to way lower their prices, I mean when Myoplex was 50 quid for 20, Met-RX was only 24 quid most of the time on offer in Holland and Barrett.
The ZMA on that link is 23 quid, you can freely buy Twinlabs ZMA for 13 quid FFS same quantities and being Twinlab its not going to be crap.
No offense to Biotest, just to the rip off importers and traders.
Once you buy surge you will never want to go back. It’s that good! Metabolic drive can be bought from an affordable supplement website here in the UK (still branded as Metabolic Drive) for about 27 quid a tub. Not cheap I know but worth a look. Otherwise I buy Reflex instant whey. It mixes well, does not taste rank and is affordable.
Didnt like the look of that stuff in H & B, it had some weird type of protein Id never heard of.
It will be hard for Biotest to get into the mainstream market here when Maximuscle spends millions on advertising and creating franchises (afaik Maximuscle shops are franchise based) and it looks to me like theyve done some sort of deal with Mens Health and Mens Fitness type magazines since every other issue seems to feature favourable reviews of their products.
The other thing thats pissing me off is that Flameout isnt available here yet.
T-Nation is thriving so Biotest arent sort of a few quid so it would be easy to set up shop in say London, bulk post a shit load of Surge etc over every few months or even produce the stuff in this country and we could order from there.
We pay decent prices, they sell more stuff, everyone wins.
Just reading through the thread and wondering if anyone has any thoughts on Reflex? I’m pretty new to it all and see reflex as cheap and pretty good in terms of nutrition but I’d appreciate views, especially on alternatives.
The H&B whey protein in question isn’t very good at all indeed.
A strange mixture of slow acting proteins such as casein and faster acting ones such as hydrolysed, it just sort of demonstrates the denominator of taste here as the market is devoid of quality supplements that are good value- it was selling like mad when I bought a tub.
It also tastes like cardboard sprinkled with Nesquik.
Reflex make outstanding protein powerder and a good gainer in Instant Mass by throwing barley into the powder, tastes good too. I pick it up for ?25 for 2.2kg where i am
H&B Whey is not bad at all, its Isolate and Hydrolized I think. I had a friend do an analysis of it at UEA some years back and unless they changed the spec its not bad.
I’ve used loads of brands here in the u.k.Prolab, Garnell are good. But I am really lucky now to have an endorsement with PhD Nutrition so now use there products. Really pleased with them, plus i’m in the adverts in flex, m&f and musclemag which is cool!
I’ve also used all-in-1 which is a company on the internet and loved there stuff, i think they are part of reflex, just no fancy packaging. Really good prices too.
