Calisthenics for 6 Months, Progress Slower Than What is Normal

@RampantBadger

You failed to mention entitled attitude.

i want this but for calisthenics https://www.t-nation.com/training/5-3-1-for-hardgainers

It’s not if you can’t apply it. And you can’t.

It absolutely makes your “knowledge” worthless.

Most personal trainers suck.

Yup - with injuries and deployments in the Marines I was definitely set back at times, but it’s been a long hard grind, and

Because you’re just giving up, and if you want to actually get bigger you’ll have to push for longer than you did.

But honestly, you’re a 26 year old who can’t do more than a couple pull-ups yet thinks he knows something about building muscle or strength, so I’ll just back out of here.

I think it all boils down to this. I can’t believe you think anyone else should answer this for you.

I certainly understand specific interactions will be difficult for you, and you’ll have to work harder on communication, but none of that is an excuse to take no personal responsibility.

I wasn’t going to post to begin with, because your original writings read like a teenager; kids will figure it out (or not) down the road. I’m disappointed to see you’re 26 with this attitude. I’m going to take a huge leap and guess that you don’t live upon your own income, in which case I don’t think you’re granted the right to worry this much about a hobby anyway.

I recognize I’m writing this in futility, because you’re a bit passive-aggressive and will just take this as I’m a jerk, but I’m just unable to help myself.

There we go, a jerk and a passive-agressive noob, we can be friends. I have zero problems with this.

This was actually pretty funny, which is extremely disarming. Damn it

Disarming?

There is no such thing.

You either want muscle muscle muscle, or you want to do bodyweight workouts. Pick which one you want.

Ok I just saw this… ( if your being honest) Ok this explains allot. Currently how do you deal with it?

People online often tell me how xyz I am. And because I don’t socialize in real life, I can’t say if this applies to real life too. My sister calls me very difficult. She even gifted a cup to my birthday which says that I am very difficult. I am not diagnosed officially. If you ain’t diagnosed as a child that you are in the spectrum it will be a lot harder to do so when you are an adult like me for example.
I often don’t understand people. I understand irony though, but I am not sure if my understanding of irony is the same as with others.
Everybody is different. I don’t even have to be in that autism-spectrum or whats it called to not be able to understand all of you together. But as a child I also had 0 friends. Typically for autists/aspergers. I am also unemployed, but I don’t live with parents. I am happy I don’t have to live with them anymore. Much nicer without these radical catholics.

Well my only nephew is autistic… so im starting to understand the issue your having on here.

How will eating more help me gain more strength and muscle mass? What did I miss? That eating more than a 500 kcal surplus will have an mentionworthy effect?
Or peole said i should first gain 15 kg or so and that would help me. What?

Ok OK…calm down. here what I will do . Think about any other questions you might have and at some point in the next day or two I will sit down and answer them or at least help with the confusion your having.

I am calm. Nothing to worry. How do you think I am not calm. haha
Okidoky.

Tone can be very difficult to convey over the internet, most people get it wrong sometimes.

My dad has been diagnosed with aspergers, and if I cared enough to get tested, I would probably be on the spectrum too so I have at least a vague understanding of how this can affect you.

I’m going to try and make this as simple as possible so the big, strong, experienced guys can help you.

  1. have you been following the calisthenics routine you posted above consistently for 6 months? I’ve just had a quick scan through and it seems like a full body 60mins+ routine. Did you do the entire program? Because you seem very focussed on the pull ups part?

  2. what did you weigh when you started?

  3. you stated you bulked for 3 months, then cut for 3 months, how did your weight change over this time? Numbers would be ideal.

  4. what is your actual goal? To look similar to the kid in the video you posted above?

Complete Calisthenics by Ashley Kalym (a dude) is a good book. I don’t really prescribe to a calisthenics only approach anymore (I did when I was 14, after seeing some dudes do handstand pushups and other cool stuff) but dips, chinups, etc. definitely have their place.

That’s all I have to add. Just for if you plan on continuing with this hobby.

Actually,

I would like to reiterate that. Beginning the process of it myself, but enough folks have seen results from it that I think there’s a chance it might work.

yes. 6 months. here and then i didn’t do sessions. 90% of it was according to plan. 3 x week. tooked me always 1.5 - 2 hours. under 60 minutes is not possible, except if your endurance is god-like. I am not focused on the pullling exercise. On everything.
2. 78 kg circa
3. 78 kg to 81 and then back to 78 kg.
4. muscle muscle muscle. nothing else. if there would be something to just increase size, I’d take it. no, not to that kid. i am just envy because his progress looks so good, compared to mine… non existent.

Eat well consistently + train consistently + work hard + do that for years…--------------…(you don’t have to do that for years to increase muscle mass) 1-2 years is usually enough

So…you can stop after 1-2 years and have gained all the muscle you possibly could? No reason why a person would ever have to eat/lift big for say…3 years? to get bigger and stronger?
