x2 on Wahl buzzers. But get one that runs off a wall plug. You wanna stay away from ones that run off a charge. They work fine for a couple months but then get weaker until its painful to attempt to buzz your hair.

Good call, I have always had the wall plug, it came in a box, with 8 different guards, oil, little brush for the clippers, big brush for your hair etc.

Do you have a tiny head?
I like using the razor after the clippers but it takes 4x as long as the clippers alone.
I’ve been doing mine for a while now, and like everyone else the first couple times I had someone else do it and just learned on my own.
First time I tried doing it myself, I didn’t have a hand held mirror to check the back, and looked like an idiot buying the hand held mirror with chunks of hair still on the back. Moral of the story: buy the hand held mirror before you attempt to cut it yourself.
I have the Wahl that plugs into the wall, but for the last few years I’ve been using a battery powered Nerelco w/o issue, but that thing has started to get dull lately, and is starting to feel more like it’s pulling the hair out instead of cutting it.
Protip - put a cut open trash bag over the sink before you clip your hair, makes clean up a breeze.

I just use two towels one to stand on and one over sink, then just jump in shower.
Been cutting my own for years. Along with everyone else, get some good clippers. I have Wahl and others seem to agree, they are good quality. I got a 30 dollar set at wal mart that came with some guides, brush and a little mirror. I miss spots all the time, but i just ask my wife to check it for me.
I was paying $10 for a barber to buzz my hair and it took about 5 minutes. Now I do it when I want and its paid for itself a long time ago.
Thanks for the stories, folks. I’m ordering my own buzzer right now. Thanks for that tip about cleaning up with a trash bag in the sink, too. Definitely gonna try that out.

When I left for law school they told me I never had to math again. They never told me that when I tried, I’d look like an idiot.

hey Hey HEY!
Even when I had long hair (until last November), it certainly was NOT 80’s metal hair!
You act like long hair originated in the 80’s.

Too much Bon Jovi growing up. Livin’ on a Prayer has permanently affected my view of the long hair.
When I had a shaved head I did it myself. I cut my own hair now and cut some friends/family members hair. Taught myself while overseas… It’s really pretty simple.
Pretty much what everyone has said:
But good clippers
Go over your head MULTIPLE times
Check it out in a mirror
Use your had to FEEL your head afterward. You’ll be able to feel spots that are longer. (seems like common sense but obviously people don’t do this)
I have been shaving my head with a razor for a year now…now that my noggin is used to it I find quicker than using buzzers. I actually do it in the shower sans mirror and as Greg said I feel my head to go over the spots I missed. Takes about 10 minutes and I shave about every 2-3 days.
