Heh heh.
So do you have a lot bears where you live? I can’t imagine that - I don’t think we’ve had bears in England for several hundred years.
Your training always blows my mind, btw - though you could be run down because you’ve been doing all that (and your work) plus running as well. Just a thought.
Bear hunting…LOVE IT!
but uh, what would you do if you actually ran into a bear???
Why MiM I would shoot it of course. It is actually bear season & I do happen to have a tag even ![]()
Cal - I am feeling pretty good today, but yea I have a tendency to over do it at times. Your thoughts are duly noted and being considered as I type. Thanks for looking out for me. OH and we have a good amount of bears around here, most of them harmless but every now & then they like to try out the taste of beef calves.
So yesterday I did a lot of “ranch” work. General physical activity… I hiked 3 miles with a chain saw and cut trees off a fence that I keep cows pastured in. It seems the elk, moose, deer and bears wreck havic on my fence every year. Also the darn snow, wind and weather blow the trees right onto my fence ~ Come mother nature, dont you know that my fence is right there?? That was the morning, I ate some lunch real quick like and went off with my saw and spent 3 hours cutting trees out of a irrigation ditch that I run water down. It had some HUUUUGGGEE cottonwoood trees that blew over and needed to be cut up into pieces and Hauled out. By hauled out, I mean I picked, hauled and drug odd shapes for yards. I was beat up and did not feel that I needed to go for a run or do any other conditioning for the day. DONE

All in & done for the day now. I went and watched my kid at his track meet today, the whole school has to participate and play - so it is a really nice thing for all that come support the kids to do so. THere are only 46 kids in my sons school and their school goes to another small school and they play and run together. It is a nice change of pace for the kids. Anyway I spent the day doing that and then got home at about 530 from doing other errands.
Weird deal I have been having some crazy mad insomnia lately (this weeek). I think it is in part from worries/stress of trying to get my “spring” work done…also being a bit over worked is playing a part in it. I tried some Z-12 and it did help but then my Pager for the ambulance went off & I was up til 2.
Arrrrgghhh Oh well this will pass I guess. I just hope that I can get back to my normal schedule of getting up at 450 a.m and get up to work out. I have failed most of this week in doing that and it messes with my whole day… cause then i stress about when I am going train and worry all day til I get it done.
Enough I am rambling now.
sorry to hear about the insomnia…
how has the diet been?
Sometimes if I don’t eat enough or eat too much crap I get insomnia. And sometimes it’s also one of my pms symptoms.
It could be a whole bunch of things…but I hope it ends as quickly as it set in.

Back into 5/3/1 for the rest of the year… Time to focus on some goals and to also be able t quickly go train and leave, no thinking, just doing. I am getting stupid busy with things, trying to get fence walked, ditches cleaned, ground seeded and farmed up. Soon the cows will be in the mtns and I won’t have to be dealing with them all the time. Oh and by the way I my last cow calved on friday…so I am done with calving for the year
yea for me!!
Horray for the last calf!
Catching up in here and it looks as if you’ve been busy.
Nice training. Very nice DLs.
Damn insomnia and ambulance pagers are the WORST. They always go off right after you fall asleep. Used to spend the night w/my sorta bf and it is the last thing that you want to hear in the middle of the night.
Oh, and the kiddo track meet sounds so fun. i love to hear about kids getting out and being active.
congrats on calving! ![]()
training plan sounds good!
damn the calving went on for quite a while… In my innocent city perspective I was thinking it all got done within a week or two. well it’s one thing off your big plate…
Yea its been a long hard winter in which I had a 10% death loss to date but hoping that will be the most for the year. Glad to be moving on to a new chapter in the year.

I am working on DEPTH & form, that is why the lbs are a bit lighter than normal. I am going to feel this session come tomorrow. My hip flexors were screaming (in a good way) at me at the end of every set. MY butt was coming all the way down & I meant to make a video but i forgot my phone.
lots of value in working on depth on form.
Things have been interesting around here but on the training front I am kind of ehhhhhhhh burned out, more physically wore out, mentally I am pretty blah but the desire is still there. I have been doing so much general physical stuff that it has had an impact on my training. MY hamstrings and glutes were sore for 4 days straight last week, I really can’t pin point what I did last week that made it so hard to recover…
The only thing I can figure is that I was doing so much shoveling and so many tree carries that it made my glutes feel like they are going to go sproing out of my legs!!! I really dont know, that is the only thing I can come up with.
Sunday I tried to dead lift and I pulled 190 once but then stopped very abruptly decided to bench instead.
I dont recall the the numbers or what was done, but I trained the chest for about 35 minutes and called a session. To top it off I have a bit of a cold and it has laid me out on top of being physically worn out I am done for.
Meanwhile i still have to work everday, no rest for the wicked I guess.
I did do some deadlifting today though. But very very weak compared to normal.
185 x 3
190 x 2
that was all I could do with this stuff so then I moved onto some
light sumos
165 x 10 x 5 sets
THis left me feeling ravaged and tore up. ON that note I have decided to take the week off of lifting, I plan to do bw stuff and running for the remainder of the week
This thursday is my 10th wedding anniversary & my hubby & I are going to a local hot springs for a couple nights and then down to Red Lodge, via the beartooth highway. Should be a great weekend. Going to do some hiking, running and soaking in the hot springs. Much needed days off coming up ![]()
Congrats on the anniversary. Sorry you’re feeling beat up. Have you considered doing one of wendler’s 2day a week variations–with all the physical work that you do–you’re like an in season athlete. Enjoy your weekend.
Nadia, that is a great idea. I will look into it. Something has to give a bit but I dont want it to be my training & I know that my work wont give. Compromise is in order for a while
THanks honey!
10 years! Wow, congratulations!
I think that all of the ranch work is what left your legs so torn up last week. But nice lifting and good work regarding squat depth/form. Very important. And I know what you mean about not wanting training to be what ‘gives.’
Enjoy the hot springs. Man, I love hot springs. Even better when you’re with someone you love!
yes, rest!!!
Your weekend coming up sounds awwwwesome… Happy anni!!!
congrats on the 10 years!!
hiking and hot springs sound like the perfect recoop for sore muscles ![]()

Out the door and back to work after my training. Irrigating and cow moving is in full swing. I go from soggy wet in the morning til night - no matter how much I try to stay dry it just isn’t possible. Oh well!
