OK…Thanks! out of curiosity, does your man train as hard as you do?
Um no he does not train at all… he is contemplatin maybe starting to do some bodyweight stuff but it is still a thought for him. He has just lost about 15-20lbs though, he weighs almost the same as I do now but he is 6 foot… So he is a bit scrawny to say the least ![]()
feed him!!
congrats on the 10 years ![]()

Then he gets fat— so he would rather be scrawny than fat. But he is actually thinkin about doin something which is a great sign. He told me that he is intimidated to workout with me though, to which I said I had no intention of working out with him - there is a reason we have been married 10 years, in part of cause of the things WE dont do together.ie working out, setting up tents, building things etc…
so I told I would be more than happy to give him some direction and let him be. Whatever he wanted I was there for him ![]()
THanks
sounds like you do indeed deserve a deload. congrats on your 10 years! 30 is a strange one for a lot of people, too, i think. it was a bit odd for me, anyway. got me thinking about where my life was at. actually, that is what got me to the gym. i didn’t realize that GHR were quite that much of a milestone… hmm… i’m determined to keep plugging away at them now.
Wow you married young! Congrats on making it to 10 years.
30 wasn’t too strange for me but being single, I didn’t have much in the way of responsibilities. At the end of the day, it’s just another circuit around the Sun.
Yea I am not really to hung up on the age thing, I am in better condition now & feel better than at any other time so it’s not really like I feel the need to be better cause i am going to be 30 or whatever. Incidently my hubby (he 34) is more shook up about me being 30 that I am. I think it is funny ![]()
So in case ya’ll haven’t noticed I am taking a deload week. Although yesterday I was pretty busy and felt that I put all my training to use. Lots of odd carries for distance, lots of hammer swings & lots of post holes dug. I am hopin to be on the downhill side of that, but the project is not done yet so it shall be another busy day. Saturday if the weather works out we are going to brand the calves - so that will be a busy busy day. That is all for now.
Oh I did train Yesterday (monday), but have not got around to postin it up - sos here is my workout from
MOnday.
mil press
100 x 5
115 x 3
130 x fail (stalled 1/2 way up)
125 x 1
Seated press
95lbs x 6, 7, 8
Suspension circuit x 3
front raise x 10
rev fly x 10

Yea I was 20, but I didn’t feel that young, I was forced to be an adult and make adult decision before my time. I never really felt as though I had much of a childhood in the sense that “normal” kids do.
It was a unintended thing for me, getting married. I was not one of them girls that ever dreamed about getting married, settling down or any of that - I had bigger plans than being tied down to anyone
Ahhh then I met my hubby & the rest is history as they say. Now I have numerous responsibilities and would not trade any of for anything in the world.
We were 20 as well…
who DOES that?! haha
Crazy kids who just ‘know,’ I guess…
We have a lot in common, n8t!
Time goes by too fast when your having fun! I’ll be 32 this year and I coulda sworn I just turned 30.
Keeps getting faster, too. I hit 44 in June and move out of early 40s and into mid. I still can’t believe my age starts with a 4. Sucks.
Nice thing for you guys is that you’ll have the kids out of the house (hopefully) before you hit 50 so you can enjoy a relatively carefree middle age. People are having children so late these days that they end up paying for their child’s college education when they should be enjoying retirement. It’s especially bad in the UK where housing is so expensive that some people are forced to live at home with their elderly parents into their 30s and even 40s.
Okay so after a week completely OFF, other than work I am ready to get back after it. This mornings trainin went like this.
Front squats
145 x 3
155 x 3
160 x 3
155 x 3
the squats were good, got some real good depth and they felt strong.
Speed deads
135lbs 6 set of 2 reps
rev lunges from cinder block
45 x 8/side
55 x 8/side
65 x 8/side
Russian twist hold off bench
3 x 30 sec
finisher—
250lbs Prowler push 10sets x 40feet
I am guessing on the distance really, it is the length of my garage. Okay so I hear tale that these bad boys are brutal & I think to myself “they can’t be that bad, I got this thing” - well I did get it, but not without almost losing my stomach contents. It comes on you real subtle like, you are pushing and then you bend over and rest a second and just as you get ready to head back to pushing…there it is the feelin of evacuating something dear to you. Unbelieveable simply brutal & decieving at the same time. I love it!!!
A complete week off has done me some good. Although I def. overate though & have not got on a scale to know what the damage was. But my pants are snug and the mirror check tells me I am packing around a few more pounds than I want… so priority # 1 for me is to shed the unwanted excess pounds. I am glad I took the week off & feel energized to get back after it. Must of been getting a bit burned out, normally on a off week I am anxious to get back to training, but I did not feel that way this time. Long about Sunday I felt as though I was ready to do something so I figured it was time to hit the iron again.
OH and for what it is worth I am doing a bastardization of Eric Cressey’s SHow & Go. I really did not change it to much just some tweaks here and there to make it fit nice for me. Okay off to feed cows and check on baby’s.
Glad to hear that you’re back in action mama! Sounds like you REALLY needed that week off. Good for you for actually taking it.
Training looks to be right on target. Strong fs, speed deads, lunges (I know that you have no love for 'em, but you did 'em.) The prowler sounds like something that I could appreciate. Any training that leaves you feeling like you might puke is worth doing, at least in my book.
Nice work, good luck with the diet stuff too.
your starting to sound like me: getting close to your goal, getting burnt out and starting all over…
its time to break that cycle!
pukey prowlers for the win!
my goodness! you have an incredibly military press! great upper body work!
Glad to here your back at it after your week off…Sometimes after a long time of continuous training even with recovery weeks…its good to take a few days / week off every few months…
i’m pretty sure that i’d need at least a week off to recover from the work you do when you are deloading. heh. glad that you are feeling energized after your deload. good work with the prowler.
Veg~ yea I was thinking of you whilst doing lunges, ugh I still am not fond of them but they do good things …so they get to stay in the mix. You would def. like the prowler - no doubt about that one. Not so much a diet, as just cutting calories really. I was not eating anythin unhealthy just to much healthy stuff, nuts & fruit type stuff. Got me all bloaty feeling, anyway yea thanks for stoppin in.
MiM ~ i hear ya sister…soldierin’ on!
N~ Wanna puke with me??
Brute ~ Tx, that is one of my strong suits - along with being incredibly good lookin ![]()
Alexus & OL ~ I have no doubt the off week was needed, although I worked harder in my job this last week than I would have liked, so I am not sure how much physical recovery was done as was a mental recovery. Very much needed regardless.
Tuesday Quick Workout
150 burpees broke up like this
6 x 15
6 x 10
Handstand practice
In and done. Was going to run but could not make that happen today so I subbed some burpees. Not the same but it will do for now.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been over this way. Hey, congrats on ten years. I was 21 when we married. Just celebrated 20 years this fall! My husband is 3 years older. I did take turning 40 kind of hard, but seriously I am in better shape now in lots of ways, than when I was a very inactive 25-year-old. That part is sweet!
I’ve been doing some Ghetto GHRs with more of a plyo-push-up. Gotta think about the bands. I suspect I could be on these for three years or more - They are crazy hard.
I’m in awe of your 145 - pound - lost - count - of - all - the - reps bench! You are sooo strong. I’m watching everybody’s bench technique these days.
Glad you’ve got a bit of your fire back for training. Notice I did NOT say working out.
And, that is one helluva lot of burpees. Awesome!
