‘Stick on the ice!!’. So many damn parents yell that all game long. Great training. 290x6 must put you at 335-350. What are you shooting for at the meet?

Shizaa… is that it? I have not used the calculator nor done 1 rep max in quite awhile… I was planning on 360-380 bench raw my next comp. I dont know, but I think the Wendler 5/3/1 program may have hurt my bench more than improved it.

I may have to adjust my training… perhaps do a test day and see where I am. I have increased my accessory work though.

Damn.

I just needed to chime in my whole hearted support of you pursuing your dreams in gear. Kevin was grossly exagerating how many people you need to bench in gear: reality is 3 spotters, one board holder, one person to place your belt, one person to give a ‘press’ command, and one person to film it only to accidently delete it later. Not that bad really.

Sucks regarding the shipping from Elite.

And if your alone??? On that note…Is there a decent shirt available that you can put on and take off yourself? I train alone, that’s why I was asking.

Didn’t mean to bring you down. I’m probably wrong.

The opened back ones are pretty easy to get on by yourself. And if you are alone, bench in a power rack. Mike Tuscherer (spelling of last name probably not right) has all sort of videos on youtube of him training alone, in gear.

Mike Tuscherer has a video on how to get your shirt on and off when training by yourself. Look for Power275’s videos on youtube. I think He competes single ply though. Multi-ply might be a different animal.

edit: Shoulda read the next page before pulling the trigger. Sorry for the echo Pete.

I have subscribed to Power275’s videos on youtube… that is one strong mother… wow!

When/ if I decide to go with gear, I will start with a single ply.

How much of an increase in weight does this usually afford someone? 30? 40? 50 pounds?

WAVE 5 WEEK 1

SQUAT
bar
135 x 2 sets of 10
225x5
375x5
425x3
475x1

I then decided to pull my new bands out fron Elite… and set them up and play around with them… it was pretty funny (and time consuming setting them up for the first time in a power rack.

So, decided to do DE Squats. Put the bands under the floor bar of the rack, then tried to stretch them up to where the bar was on the hooks… ummm… no go.

So, brought the bar down to the bands, slipped them over the bar and then had to “zercher” the bar back onto the hooks at shoulder level… not an easy feat. OK, now to train… I have no idea how much weigh at the top, or how much off at the bottom.

I looked like the cool kids now though… heheheh…

DE SQUAT
Monster Black Bands (big heavy duty suckers)
bar with bands only x 2-3 sets of 5 (almost shot me backwards when I unracked it… lol!)
135 x 5 sets of 5
each rep down slow working on depth and hip flexibility… explode up.

This is all I had time for after getting things set up and playing around with the bands… but feel like it was a good session none the less. My hips and glutes seem to agree with me this morning…

MARCH 27

90x12

Going to finish this wave… test after deload, and see where I am at. I said I would give it 6 months… I better have made some improvement, or I will kick Mr. Wendler in the gonads. Figuratively speaking… of course.

Nice work here bunny dude. RE Band squats: Yeah, they suck for walked out squats. No way around that unless you have a monolift and some patient and helpful training partners. Black bands seem excessive, do you have green/medium ones? also, you ain’t doubling them over are you?

RE: gear carryover: Single ply it is all how much you spend and how tight you go. Knowing what I know about you go for a Titan Fury 56 or 54 single ply for shirt, anywhere from 30-100 carryover depending on your lockout. Squat suit? I will ask around. Titan is the name though for single ply, so I am guessing Centurion. I have gotten a lot of good pop out of my Metal IPF squatter though.

Finally, to do Wendler justice, hate to be the bitch but doesn’t look like you are doing the ‘true’ 5/3/1, at least now that you are adding speed work, etc. into it. just saying.

Hey Petey!
Thanks for droppin’ in brother… and thanks for the encouragement.

Yeah, regarding straps… I got black, orange, green, grey and red ones… all with different tensile strengths. I did not double the black ones over, just cinched them on the bottom of the power rack in the middle. If I doubled them it would have probably drove me in the ground like a tent peg.

I train alone… so when I do get a shirt, it will have to be a little loose so I can get it on myself I guess.

As for the gear… how much am I looking to spend (approx.) for the shirt and the suit??

As for the Wendler 5/3/1… I followed it up until this most recent wave, and have just added some speed/ band work or a second ME movement because I did not feel I was progressing as fast as I wanted. The only way to truly tell is to have a test day I think, which I have scheduled at the end of this wave.

Rock on…

Kev

About $100 for the shirt, $150 for a good suit, give or take. Contact Ken @ andersonpowerlifting.com, he will hook you up.

Don’t forget Bunny, Sunday is your day. I want multicolored eggs and lots of chocolate…you know, for my kids, yea, that’s it.

You’re back in the groove. Things are looking great. Now I gotta try and catch you.

Thanks guys… happy Easter!

nice work bunny. wish I had scanned it, the local community center had a flier with a really creapy picture of you…

How did it feel unracking 545?? Anything over 500 just feels sooo heavy once its unracked. Great squat workout.
