Bullfighting & Fox Hunting Bans

You like headcheese? My brother makes it real good.

If you don’t think about it…or if your dad and other ranchers just don’t tell you what they gave you…they’re damn tasty
haha sounds like theres a story behind that one

Indeed! NO MEAT FOR CHILDREN!

hahahaha

Reminds me when my dad told me that I had to kill a sheep, or go vegetarian when I was in elementary school. He used to go to a farm to get us some sheep every once in a while - but he would kill it himself. He had explained the process before many times, but of course with the ultimatum he had to tell it again. It goes something like this

You walk up to it slowly with some candy. You pet him. (Then my dad would put on a cute little sheep voice imitation and go “ba-a-a-a-a”). If I remember the technique correctly you sit or kneel down while presenting some candy to him, you do it in a way so that he has to sit with you to take the candy. You continue petting while reaching for your knife. But be careful because if he sees it he will panic. He knows what it is. So you go from one second petting him and giving him candy, to the next second your slitting his fucking throat and holding him down while he bleeds all over you.

My mom was there though, so she stopped the story way before he even tried to get an answer from me. I would have done it, I recognized it as a fair choice/challenge, but damn I wasn’t really looking forward to doing it lol.

Why? What have you got against bullfighting? And why do you think the government should stop other people from bullfighting?
Why not bring back gladiator fights then? It’s a primitive tradition and I think it’s time to move on. Anyways, I will keep applauding bulls that catch toreros.

Again, what annoys me more is how they associate bullfighting to all Spanish culture. This gets me mad in real life. What you guys don’t understand is that there are certain traditions and things that remind us too much of dark times and the people who support bullfighting would like to go back to these times…

(Go to 3:43 for the bloody part, the rest is just an explanation of how minors got inside and stuff like that)

I’m certain the bulls do “suffer” but we need not be anthropomorphically ambitious here; they do not feel pain the way humans do, in my opinion based on my years on cattle ranches. They are tough as nails.
Watch the second video I just posted.

No pain?

Ah, that video clearly illustrates my point. The pontillero immediately severs the bull’s spinal cord killing him instantly the moment the bull is grounded. But I see where you’re coming from now. Human beings getting hurt is good(because they are being punished for bullfighting) but bullfighting is bad(because bulls get hurt.) Okay fella.

For reference; pain.

The bull does not always die immediately. It’s normal for them to be dying on the floor for minutes…still shaking while their ears get severed.

They get in the ruedo to fight and, sometimes, they lose. I support the bulls because each human death leads us one step closer to their total ban. They could choose to not “saltar al ruedo”.

So?

If no human ever came to harm, what would be the point?

Thank you for being honest about your contempt for human life. This gives us all a clearer picture of the psychology of those who support bullfighting bans.

Pure gold. So from a post I made in this thread you can get a “clear picture of the psychology behind ALL those who support the ban”.

You’re an idiot. Clear psychology.

Never said ‘all.’ But I think the fact that you and roguevampire - the only two people who expressed approval of the bans, both expressed contempt for human life. Not the first time I’ve had responses like that from “animal rights” activists either.

Pot calls the kettle black. So everyone in Spain who supports bullfighting wants a return to Francoism eh?

 1. I’m Spanish, this is part of my “culture”, so it’s certainly much closer to me than it is to you or him. For you it may just to be “man against animal” or even similar to hunting.
 2. Me? Animal right activist? Your magical ball is malfunctioning.
 3. Corridas are supposed to be art and sport. If we consider it a sport and a fight to death, I’m supporting the bull. Nothing to do with “contempt for human life”.
 4. There’s a big link between catholic people, bull fighting, right wing and Franco. It doesn’t mean that any who take part on that is a Franco supporter, but Patria, Familia y Dios is still the motto of many.
 5. I said “culture” above, because people outside Spain keep insisting me about them. I’m from Balearic Islands and stuff like Flamenco or Corridas are not part of my culture.

It’s not part of my culture either except in as much as it’s an element of ‘European culture.’ I don’t consider bullfighting similar to hunting BTW.

I made an assumption on the basis of your central premise that a bull’s life is more important than a human life - or at any rate of equal importance. That is what animal rights activists argue.

I was talking about your wishing death and injury upon the matador.

Link shmink.

The thread started with a connection with the fox hunting ban.

I never implied such and it’s certainly not my main argument. I don’t believe that the bull’s life is more important than the human one, but it’s a fight to death and I support the other competitor, the bull. If he wins it means that he either killed or maimed the torero. There’s no other way out for it.

Same as above. I stand for what I said though, I support the bull because I’m anti-corrida and if the bull wins, “they” lose.

I can’t link all my life, but you can start by checking El Valle de los Caidos (Valley of the Fallen Ones) on 20th November.

Disdain for human life? absolutely not. But I realize that humans are the most vial, disgusting, violent creatures to ever live on this planet. Most by nature, are all assholes. Not all people, just alot of humans are. I don’t think animals should be held above humans, just on a level playing field.
